Other Tools
MFP is the greatest but there are also other tools we can use. There is lots of good advice on Instagram. syattfitness is Jewish, hooper.fit, cartergood, and drnadolsky are all very good for diet advice. martinberkan is the expert on intermittent fasting. Any comments?
A Very Important Podcast
"Lots of people use diet and activity trackers to log their food intake and exercise. After all, there’s an old saying that “you can’t manage what you don’t measure.” And yet it seems to be backfiring." The Nutrition Diva really knows her stuff and she has a podcast specifically about using MFP. Read it or listen to it…
Pesach Countdown!!
This sounds very superficial after the Dvar Torah thread, but do you know that it is only 11.5 weeks until Pesach? (Jewish Passover) For the unititiated, Passover is a huge week long event on the Jewish calendar. It celebrates freedom, dedication to G-d and a constant awareness of our journey to this point and our goals…
Strategies for Eating Out on Shabbat
Like a lot of people on this board, the place where my calorie-counting efforts fall down is on Shabbat (and by extension holidays, but in the summer I'm thinking Shabbat). Eating tips

How many calories in a Sufganiyah (Chanukah Doughnut)
For those that might stumble across this thread that are not familiar, this is nothing like a regular doughnut. I've seen estimates ranging from 400 - 600 calories. Does anyone have any educated guess?
What did your ancestors eat?
I eat a fairly 'clean' diet that is called Primal Blueprint/Paleo style of eating, if any of you have heard of such a thing. It basically states that we should eat the way our ancestors ate, and exercise they way they did. So I ask, what did our Jewish ancestors eat? If you go all the way back to Adam and Chava's sons,…
How many calories do you eat on Shabbat?
Cute article - obviously there are many ways to not eat like this, but I do find myself eating way more than I ever intended to on Shabbat. Especially when I don't control what's being served, which is often these days.…
RH and logging
Hey guys - I don't want to lose my logging streak but with three-day Rosh Hashana coming up it seems inevitable. Is there any way to save it?
