Do you need anything to do these workouts, like weights?

Replies

  • You can use light weights if you want, but I most likely wont use weights at all. (Air weights lol)

Picked up the DVD yesterday and will watch it and try it out later today. So looking for ward to this challenge. I think I'll do a "remedial version" since I'm so out of shape but anything and everything I do is so much better than before!

I have done the 30 day shred before. So I can give some advice. 1st. yes she uses weights, and you can start low, like 2 pounds. Walmart has Jillian weights that have a set of 2 lb 5 lb and 8 lb so you can move up when it gets easier (and it does!) 2nd. STRETCH your quads. I literally cried going up and down steps for the 1st 3 days after starting. But wow you get used to it and your legs look so much better and you feel so much stronger! 3rd-DONT GIVE UP! so many people use this because it is hard and a great workout. But I know so many that quit because of the initial pain. If you push through it, you will see and feel results wiithin a week. Even when I didnt see the lbs coming down on the scale, I could feel the muscle I was building and literally just felt stronger and healthier!
I am coming from an out of shape standpoint! When I did this, I weighed 200 lbs at 5'4" and trust me, I felt like I was going to die! I took breaks when I had to but I didnt give up and it got easier.
I stopped MFP and exercising for the summer and gained back the 17 pounds I lost and all of the fitness and muscle tone I gained. SO I am back to the starting board. 200 lbs again. Disgusted with myself. I will be right there with you all sweating and cussing Jillian and crying. But remember, after 30 days it WILL be worth it. and please remind me of that when I want to quit!!!!! You can do anything for 25 min a day.

I have started this dvd so many times, but never got through all 3 levels before. I would like to start over in October with all of you, I think it would be very helpful to get support from others who are in the same boat.

I'm going into the last 15-25 of my weight loss journey. I love these kind of time set challenges. I used to do the wii active's 30 day challenge everyday, along with all their workouts. I've never done the 30 day shred, but i love jillian michaels workouts. So looking forward to this!
  • so glad i found this. i used MFP last year and lost 20lbs with regular exercise with the help of a walking buddy. i was kind of ditched and lost motivation. i have the dvd set and started it the same time last year. im very excited to get started and knowing that there is a group going through it with me makes more motivated.
  • I bought the dvd today and im soo glad i found this! Also im new here.
  • I'm starting today. I made it through three weeks of Insanity earlier this summer, but this seems a lot easier to do and a lot easier as far as staying with it... only 25 minutes and not too intense of a workout.

    Thanks everyone :)
I have never done a workout video before. I have been working out for the last few days just on a treadmill and doing sets with 10lb weights and my husband's bench set. I am sure this will kick my butt though.

So excited to start with you all :) I was looking for a challenge in October! I did a personal challenge for the month of August and it worked so well, but I couldn't think of one for September, so I am kind of losing momentum this month. I can't wait to do this with support!

Count me in! I have been doing the turbojam videos but I am getting bored and need to change it up... I started the 30DS last year, but never finished. I can and will do all 30 days this time!
  • I have watched the video while sitting on my couch a few times! But October 1st-watch out Jillian!

For those of you who don't want to buy the DVD, you can find all 3 levels on youtube.

Is there a special "diet" plan that she recommends? Just wondering.

This will be my third attempt (eeeek!) with 30DS, and I was just saying to some of my pals that I wanted to do it again in Oct since my son will be one on 10/26. I have made it to Level 3 each time, and then I wanted to die. This has to be in addition to your other workouts for it to fully work (weight and inches loss). I used 5 lb weights, which were fine. Jillian's voice and porno music do get a bit annoying by the end of the first level, which is tolerable because mute is a great tool. Her little cronies aren't always following along either! BUT, you have to give it to JM for creating a phenomenal program. She knows her *kitten*!

Here is to kicking tail in Oct! :drinker:
  • I've had 0 motivation to start the 30ds again for the 3rd time. But thankfully I'm not alone (:

So glad you said this! I thought I was the only one! The first day I did it before I thought I had pulled every muscle in my thighs! But yes after the third day you feel awesome!!
