After reading all the reviews and watching you tube videos about fitbit i couldn't wait to get mine. it was like Christmas when the package arrived a day earlier than it was supposed to.
It is NOT trackin my gym performance well at all! Yesterday was my first day to use it and i ran 3 1/2 miles and did 2 miles on the stairmaster. My fitbit said i only did 4.04 miles. I get that there will be some differences from machine to machine and even to the fitbit-- but a mile and a half.....
This mornings gym session--- same thing. Between the 2 i did another 5 1/2 miles but my fit bit registered just barely 4 miles.
Floors- it's not tracking them on the stairmaster- and i read that it doesn't always track them, but i thought it would at least track that distance. The readings are screwing up my exercise log on MFP too because they differ from what i really did.
i VERY SERIOUSLY considering returning it, but wanted to seee what others had to say first......

Have you calibrated your stride length?

i found out that i was having expectations beyond what the fitbit was designed for. The FITBIT is not meant to use for workout tracking.
I contacted fitbit and they were great! They sent me a FedEx pick up receipt and will give me a full refund. They were really great about it!

Great that they are giving you a refund.

Just wanted to point out that a Fitbit will absolutely not track your stairmaster activity as "climbing" - because you're not. You are mimicking climbing as far as the workout goes, but the fitbit stair climb counting is based on an altimeter reading - which is based on measuraing elevation change. I love mine, but I know it's not the optimal tool for everyone.
