I am really striving towards this lifestyle but have been having a hard time following it fully. I have 'It starts with food' and love it! It is really inspirational. I cut out excess sugar (but not all hidden sugars) and bread, grains and pasta (for the most part.)

I also have a couple of Paleo cookbooks and am really inspired to cook now.

I thought that maybe if I was part of the group, I would do a better job of keeping the things out of my diet that I don't want in there.

I am still doing cheese, but mostly feta, bleu and gorganzola (in salads and such.)I don't drink milk, I drink my coffee black and I did start eating meat again (i was a veggie for years and gained so much)

Nice to be here :D

Welcome! I'm doing Primal for about 2 months now. I generally do great during the week but blow it on the weekends. Old habits die hard. This is a great group of people though. :-)

Welcome. It sounds like you're off to a great start, and this group is very supportive. Lots of people have open diaries and it's nice to get ideas of Paleo/Primal meals and snacks.

I've been Primal since early July and have found it pretty easy. I went cold turkey on cutting out grains/beans/sugars and processed stuff. It was a tough first couple of weeks, but I found it eliminated my cravings completely. Now when I "treat" its a conscious choice, not a craving controlling my thoughts.

    Welcome! (:

I've been doing Paleo for quite a few months now. It was definitely a lifestyle change but I couldn't be happier. I found that the first few weeks were difficult but now all the cravings are gone. I've never felt better!

Lots of really good, supportive people here! (:

Keep up the good work! (:

Awesome, thank you so much for the welcomes :) I am sooo wanting to do this but I guess the worry about not being perfect has stopped me. I tend to be a perfectionist and then go gung ho and then not be able to keep it up :-/

I have already stopped having extra sugars but haven't been vigilant about sugars that are in things and I still have a few convenience meals (health food store frozen foods, I know, processed and high sodium)

What about my feta cheese? I just love it with my olives and in salads.

Cheese (and other milk products) are a debated item. My personal belief is that a little goes a long way.
I was actually allergic to cheese and milk for about 15 years. The slightest amount would have me in severe pain for 12 hours.

now, once I quit grains - that allergy is gone. I do eat it with severe moderation, but don't let some fancy cheese on my salad or on an appetizer set me back.
But, when I do eat it - I try to eat the best I can find. I still try to stay away from processed crap from giant companies.

Welcome to the group! It does get easier! I always thought I couldn't live without grains, but like others have said my cravings are null. You are capable of making this change and it is quite and easy way to live, very basic and natural!

Hello, I'm another newby to the group. I was diagnosed as a T2 diabetic and immediately I began to low carb. I researched different diets, and also met a guy who is paleo on another site. Seeing what he was doing, I looked deeper into P/P and decided it was right for me. I am primal as I do have some dairy, but I don't have milk at all. Cheese and eggs are very limited, but I do have Greek yogurt and cream daily, apart from Tuesdays and Thursdays where I do a very restricted calories. It's the 5:2 fast. If you would like to know about the 5:2 fast if you type in eat. fast and live longer there is a documentary about it on youtube.

I look forward to getting to know you all, and sharing idea's. I don't care what anyone says, clean eating is the only way, and the healthiest. Also in my opinion the most tasty. I bake a lot, so never feel deprived of anything as usually there is an alternative I can make myself.

Hi everyone :) Thank you for the wonderfully supportive words (and welcome, Defren)

I am completely on board. I have decided to definitely do the Whole 30 in October. I am preparing for it now, getting my pantry in order. That will mean no dairy for a month. I don't want to give it up forever at this point, but I can do it for a month.

I am pretty excited and am looking for meal ideas (there is plenty out there.)

Thank you and the very best of luck.

I may try out a 30 day challenge at some point, but I love Greek yogurt with berries, flax and chia seeds and really would struggle to cut them out. I keep telling myself I dropped carbs almost overnight, so why can't I do this. The mind is strong, but the craving for yogurt is stronger...lol.

PS Are there any P/P here in the UK?

Welcome! Yep, this is a neat community...lots of different ideas. I'm not perfect either...but I do resonate completely with not only the foods but with all the science and research that others have put into this. Over on the Marksdailyapple.com website, they talk about a 80%/20% approach. Meaning do your best 80% of the time. That's the approach I adopted and it definitely has worked for me.

Best of Luck, but with primal you won't need it! And enjoy the Whole 30 experience!
