I'm just starting out with the Paleo lifestyle. I'm having a hard time eating enough calories while keeping my carbs down. Any suggestions?

I am struggling with this a little, too. I am down below my goal weight and don't want to lose any more. Seems to add calories I keep reaching for nuts and avocados. Have started snacking on lunch meats, wrapped in kale and mustard, lately...

As someone who never struggles with calories, I can only feel envious. What you want to add is fat. Butter in your tea. Coconut oil on your vegetables. Eat skin on your roast chicken and pour home-made mayo or pesto over your salad. Pick fattier cuts of meat. Scramble your eggs with bacon. Get thyself some coconut manna/butter/creamed coconut.

But, if you are full, forget the counter. You are eating just right.

If weight loss is not an issue root vegetables/tubers will add calories like wild fire.

Exactly as Leida said. I would also forget about the calories in MFP and look at your protein (getting enough) and carbs (as your are).. The rest can be fluff. You will not starve yourself or kill your metabolism. Eat to satiety. For me somedays that might be 1200 calories and I am extremely active. Other days it is 3000. I eat what my body needs nothing less (sometimes more when trying to build).
I do agree that adding really good quality fats will help with vitamin uptake, hormone regulation and a score of other really good things.
