Jillian's Meal Plan

Hi, I'm starting JMBR on Monday and I'm pretty excited! Having read over Jillian's meal plan, it is completely impossible for me. Buying all the ingredients, finding time to prepare the meals, I can just already see that it isn't going to happen.

I plan to stick to 1200-1400 calories a day, which is what I do already. I was just wondering if there's a certain way I should divide up my carbs/fats/proteins. MFP gives me way more carbs than anything else but JM's plan seems to be lower carb, higher protein.

Is it going to make a huge difference? Or should I just stick to what I've been doing according to MFP?

Cheers!

I had to do the same thing, I am a 5 ingrediant per meal type of person and those were way beyond my skill and time level you want to try and do 35% Protein and carbs and 30% Fat I believe an even amount over all, I have had to really work on cutting my carbs down and up the protein. I don't know that it will make a huge difference if you are sticking to 1200-1400 calories but with more lean protein it helps your muscles reover and build and they help keep your energy and endurance going faster than carbs. hope this helps :)

Thanks, that helps heaps! As it is, I struggle to eat enough carbs and always go over my protein so if I go even on them that will probably work perfectly for me. Plus the extra protein is good for my muscles :)

I just found it stupid that Jillian is going on about how she only asks us for 30 minutes a day, and that's all we have to put in to "revolutionize" our bodies. Meanwhile following her meal plan would require hours and hours of kitchen time!

Yeah, I looked over the meal plan as well and will not be following it. It is not in my budget or tastes. Ive got 4 kids and a husband to cook for and that's double duty! I was going to try and mimic the meals. Glad Im not the only one who is skipping the meal plan

I looked over it and I think I can get something just as nutritional, similar numbers of calories, and similar amounts of carbs/protein/fat without having to follow something that ridiculous!

I am a poor starving student and I eat whatever is in my parents' fridge/pantry!

I have been following the Kickstart meal plan this week and found that its not a lot of 'crazy' ingredients and was easy to follow... with modifications and just for one week.

I needed a week of detox (too much sugar and flour/carbs since mid-summer... spent last week at a state fair if that is any indication of where my diet has been!) So for me, this was similar to Atkins induction and helpful for me to get rid of bad habits and break my sugar addiction.

I love greek yogurt and cinnamon and ate that for breakfast every day (love it!). I am a big salad for lunch person so that was easy. And dinners I had sirloin steak tip (was on sale!) with roasted veggies a few nights. Last night I mixed dinner and snack and had a turkey burger and carrots (cooked carrots quickly in frying pan after turkey burger was done) and topped burger with hummus! SO GOOD.

But I think if you keep your carbs down and keep to 1200 you should be okay. FWIW, from what I've seen on the boards, the people who are not losing weight are the ones who are not following the diet... but the ones who have the most success are the ones who followed the diet. We'll see.. Good luck in whatever you choose to do!
