I just finished week 7! I am running my 5K on Saturday so Monday and today I decided to run the distance of the 5K just to be sure I could do it and guess what???? I did! Monday in 40 minutes and today in 37. LOVE THIS PROGRAM!!!
Anyone else go off the schedule and go farther than the prescribed distances?

I did the same thing starting around week 7 - I'd add enough distance to be a full 5k each time. Partially walking, partially running. Generally came in between 38-40 minutes for the entire workout. Just make sure you give yourself a day or two of rest leading up to the race.
My first 5k was 33:15 - which was way faster than any training run I had done up to that time.
Good luck with your race...make sure you let us all know how it goes.

Thanks! Today was my last run before Saturday, resting tomorrow and Friday. I've heard the other runners at a race tend to push you along a bit, true?0

Definitely - the excitement of being out there in your first race with a bunch of other people will have you through the first mile before you know what happened
I went into it hoping to be under 38min, 36 was my "dream" time. I never imagined 33....and haven't gone that fast in a training run since....although, I'm stretching out the distance now. I'm hovering between 4-5 miles...when the average gets back down under 12, then I add a little more distance (at a slower pace...etc).0 -
Congratulations & a big well done. Look forward to hearing how the 5k goes.
I went off track, completed a 5k at wk4, then another after wk5, have now skipped the rest of the 5k & gone to the B210K programme. Also now pop along to our local running club, the last 2 wednesday evenings & done 4.5miles each session! Hope to get under 30mins on my next 5k! 1st @ 35:13, 2nd @ 31:59 - did not expect those times! I couldn't run 30 secs in July!
Look forward to hearing all your updates, keep going, you'll be amazed at your improvement!0
