Slightly TMI - bathroom issue

So I've been trying to restart my Paleo diet this week. Of a morning I've been drinking bulletproff coffee and then having some chicken, nuts, olives, etc at break, chicken and an apple at lunch, and then a paleo-ish dinner.

Yesterday I was really low on carbs (and indulged in some wine) so I don't know if thats it or not... but has anyone else had watery bm's? Not solid in the least. Is this a common thing when changing eating habits or am I just sick?

Thanks and sorry for TMI

It happens, particulary when your macro ratios change a lot, like rising your fats high. If your proteins get high, normally it gets hard and solid. It will normalize, unless your veggies or fruti are rotten or something.
  • This happened after Day 2 of Paleo diet for me too. Now, I seem to have quite the opposite problem.

The first week or so was like that for me, and I agree, I think it was the fats that did it. Normalized on it's own. One nice thing about MFP is because you log everything you eat, you can look back and figure out what is causing these issues and fix it yourself. (Too much cheese, too much spinach, etc.)

It could be how the bulletproof coffee, too - depending on how much butter & oil you are putting in. You might want to halve it and ease your way up.

You can try drinking a warm glass of water, then sit and relax for a bit. Or drink a tall glass of water, followed by walking at a good clip for 10 minutes, and that might get things moving. I have had issues for the last 3 years, paleo has actually helped to straighten things out, but when I do get backed up, I like to drink Yogi Get Relaxed (I think) tea at night and in the morning things are moving fine. I symathize with you. Sometimes our bodies are just trying to make adjustments, and we need to give them time. If these suggestions don't help, look up stomache massage and try that. They tell you to make sure and do it on an empty stomache, not right after you have eaten.

Unless you are feeling constipated, that's very normal when you cut the carbs down. Your body uses everything up, and the 'empty bulk' doesn't end up in the toilet. TMI: I go about 2x a week, depending on how high caloric deficit is. I would only worry if you feel painful, or the output is pelleted/dry - in which case more fat and less protein is gonna help to soften things out.
