first week maintaining i lost 3 lbs ???

hi all,
so about me, i recovered from anorexia, gained higher than i wanted to ending up 11st 7lbs i had a goal of 10st 10 lbs and i am 6ft tall this brings me to a low but healthy bmi
thing is i did this on weight watchers and i upped my points for maintaining and lost 3lbs the last week.
now am told in order to stay a member i have to gain 1lb back,
thing is my net calorie goal is like 1950 without exercise and i do a lot of exercise because i love it
do i need to eat back all of my exercise calories to stop losing?

    yes, you need to net your maintenance figure or you will always be at a deficit and keep losing weight.
  • so if i make sure i eat my daily cals plus exercise cals i will maintain my weight and not gain right
    sorry am really nervous about this its so new after losing.
    i am off food shopping to buy non weight watchers products as i just cant get my cals high enough without x

    I think transitioning to non WW food will be good for you in general. Just transition slowly, add calories until things stabilize. Good luck.

    Here's some useful things I started doing when I transitioned...

    1) Increase portion sizes - Don't change your meals portions much to start with - it just feels like you're eating too much - however a small, measured increase (say, 10%) is easy to eat and you stay in control of your diet. (10% extra on a 1400Cal plan is another 140 Cals per day)

    2) Introduce some high calorie, healthy snacks, such as mixed fruit and nuts. A small portion (30-50g) is easy to pick at through the day, really good for you and will add 130-180 Cals to your net intake.

    3) Don't replace low fat products (spreads, cheeses etc) with their full fat counterparts- you don't need more unhealthy fat - you need to increase your net intake from a balanced diet.

    3 lbs in a week is a lot. it may just be a hydration issue. Relax, drink water and maintain healthy eating habits.
  • it stayed off and am maintaining 147lbs now, did go down half a lb one week but back up half the next, am happy maintaining 147 now as i am 6ft tall and feel this is a slim weight considering the exercise i do i am very toned and have muscle xx

    congrats. that's a rather slender weight but not unhealthy. I'd say give yourself a range 145-150 to account for fluctuations.

    Hi Clare, I expect your body is still making up for the week before - I often find a delayed result. If I am really good one day, the next day I seem to not have lost anything, but the day after I see the result. On my maintenance I am sticking to my normal (slimming) regime but adding one extra treat per day. Last night I had a gin and tonic - and it was lovely! First drink for 3 months so a treat. And so nice to go to the pub and not have to order sparkling water! This makes me sound like an alcoholic which is completely not true - I normally only have a drink once a week at most. However, today my weight was DOWN by half a pound, so maybe relaxing and having fun contributes to good metabolism. Anyway - it sounds like you are being very sensible and vigilant, so keep up the good work!
