Hi, all:) My name is Tracy and I started South Beach on August 20 and joined MFP three weeks ago. When trying to figure out how I was going to go about losing weight THIS TIME, I read about SB and decided this might be the way for me. I really needed to kick the sugar and white processed foods habit....they have had a hold on me all mylife. This time I needed to make a real lifestyle change....to finally lose the weight and keep it off (I have lost 60+ pounds at least three times in my adult life and gained it all back +more every time). I decided enough is enough. Turning 50 in April and want to look and feel better by then, and start the next decade of my life happy and healthy (and wearing much smaller, cuter clothes!). Before I started Phase 1 I was skeptical that this cold really work, AND that I could actually of two full weeks without sugar or any breads, pasta, etc. But, it did work! I no longer have the cravings for these things and I feel so much better all the way around!

Welcome Tracy...so happy to have you join us. I, too, am a strong believer in SBD. Even without losing weight, you feel better. But you do lose weight...so that is a bonus. I like waking up and not dreading to step out of bed because of joint pain.
Ok, so I can no longer run...but I can walk without pain...play fetch with my muttster without pain, make dinner and clean the kitchen without pain. That is huge for me.
It's all cuz the processed junk is outta my body...no white sugar, flour, rice, nor potatoes on a regular basis. I just feel I was in the right place (Amazon.com) at the right time when I ran into the South Beach Diet Supercharged book. It just works.
Great to have you along and hear about your triumphs!0 -
Hi, lady !
I see you've met my buddy Nanc (Ernestine's Mom) ..... she & I have been following a mostly SB way of eating for a number of years now, and it has worked for us ...... we've lost weight AND started exercising, which is even more surprising ...... and now we are here on MFP to kick things up a notch.
Good for you for kicking the sugar cravings ..... just a warning, though ..... those cravings WILL come back if you let your guard down too much ..... been there & done that
Let's talk !

Welcome! So glad you are here to be a part of our little group. Congrats on getting through Phase 1. I do believe I am just going to start mine all over again. I CAN get through this phase without giving in. I was almost there and then I just fell apart. But I'm glad to be a part of this group for support and encouragment!0
