I am running/walking a 5k this weekend and I have never run outside. I have exercise induced asthma that makes it difficult to be in cold weather already, so running will be worse. It is supposed to be in the 30's with a chance of snow during the race. What do you all suggest I wear for the race? I would much rather be too hot than cold. Any advice would be great. Thanks

I would recommend something light weight around your neck, like a buff or neck gaiter. I prefer the buff in the 30's and the gaiter in colder weather but I am overly sensitive too cold (just normally sensitive)

You can get something similar in most sporting good stores or even some department stores with the scarves, gloves or activewear. These links are just examples because they are kind of hard to describe.
EDIT: this is in addition to layers. It really depends on how hard you are planning on running. Even in 30 degrees I get warm enough during a race that I don't need anything more than a long sleeve tech shirt. But if I wasn't really pushing it I would wear a long sleeve tech shirt, light weight running jacket, and long tights. MAYBE gloves.
Such as:

You and get the same much cheaper at Old Navy. And if you are still wanting more - layer an extra longsleeve polar fleece between the running shirt and the jacket0 -
Ok thanks. Thats kind of what I had thought, but I just dont want to get out there and freeze. I am a walker/jogger so I wont be running to hard or fast. I hadnt thought about something around my neck though.0

My neck is what seems to get so cold the fastest because I always forget about it!0
