Does anyone have some tips on preventing and healing blisters? I went for a walk for the first time in such a long time this morning and I can already feel the blisters forming. I don't want this to be another reason/excuse not to keep going. Thanks!

Ouch!
I don't know anything to do to help them once they are there. You could try putting a preventative type bandage on before you walk if you keep getting them in the same place. Thicker socks? Is it possible you need differnt shoes. I know I have had shoes that I thought were fine until I started taking long walks in them and discovered they left blisters on my arch. I hope they heal up quickly.0 -
Hmm... I second the better shoes/socks idea. The right workout gear makes a huge difference.
You could also try some non weight-bearing exercises at first if walking long distances causes any type of pain.
Also, at my biggest I preferred to work out barefoot (found it more comfortable). I would do aerobics DVDs (typically Leslie Sansone's walking DVDs because they are low-impact) in my living room on a rug or carpet and it would feel great. Best wishes!0 -
Thanks ladies! I bought some blister band-aids and "friction block" stick that is supposed to keep your socks from rubbing. To be honest I haven't been brave enough to put back on my tennis shoes though. I think I need to break them in a bit more as I've had them for a while but rarely wear them.
I also love to be bare foot! Will look up Leslie Sansone - thanks!0
