Did anyone else underestimate day one of week six? I attacked it like a maniac, after feeling so great about W5D3, and found myself about to collapse after the second jog. I pushed through and made it to the end but I learned a very important lesson in pacing today!

I felt great after the 20 minute run at the end of week 5. Whatever you do tomorrow don't start too fast. Stay cool, breathe, and push through when it gets tough!

    Have an awesome run!!!

YES!! I came on to have a complain about this exactly!! My confidence really took a knock when I had to walk for 10seconds halfway through my FIRST 5min run!! WTH??? I ran for 20mins last week but then couldnt manage 5mins this week???

It been 5 days since that awful run and I admit I've been putting off continuing - I'm going to go out tonight and re-do W6D1 tonight. Fingers crossed it goes better!!

Sometimes you just have a bad run. You're human and not every run will be as good as the last - but believe me, I know saying that is easier than hearing that and I still struggle to accept the bad days along with the good ones. Repeat if you feel you need to =)
  • Just got back from finishing W6D1.

Yes, it was tough. Tougher than yesterday's W5D3......but, I finished, and I had my best time/distance to date. Unreal. It was not as 'fun' as previous runs though, and I struggled a lot more.
BUT, I also realize that a few things were different: 1. I didn't run first thing in the morning like I normally do and 2. I'd had breakfast about an hour before running. I imagine those two factors contributed greatly to how different today's run was.

In any case. I finished, and now, it's onto D2 of W6...which I"ll be running on a beach in Puerto Rico! Woot!!! (that oughta be interesting!!)
  • Thanks for posting! I'm doing W6 D1 today and all the 'run reviews' are helpful, good and bad. It's great to read about struggles with W6D1, at the same time someone posts doing there first 5k in 30 minutes after only running for 10 weeks. There is hope!
I ran my first 5k Sunday night and it was a disaster! I was desperate to stop after a block, I maybe ran half of it on and off, and I think I'm being generous there. I had heavy legs, my breathing never got comfortable and I'm a little haunted by how idiotic I might have looked.
But-on the bright side, it was the GlowRun in downtown Las Vegas, in the evening. Imagine if a club suddenly opened its doors and vomited out 3000 ravers onto the streets blowing whistles and wearing fluorescent next-to-nothing. Hopefully my goofy gait & I blended right in.
Onward to week 6 and registering for my next 5k in November.

giving you an idea of how much effort it takes to get from one point of reference to another is a valuable skill for running, C25k makes it easy to learn these lessons :)

Its amazing, how it works! I went to D1 W9 today, and really made sure I pulled right back speed wise to make it through!

I went back and re-did it after taking a week's break!! It was a breeze!! Just kept my pacing slower and ended up going the furthest I've done yet!! only 0.2 of a mile from a full 5K distance :-D soooo pleased i have this group to lean on when I'm in trouble - I think I would certainly have quit by now otherwise!! xxx
