How does the sugar withdrawal last?

Hello,

I have been doing phase 1 of the south beach since 10/4. I like it but the withdrawal is similar to when I quit smoking and is hard. How long does this last? Also, I would love any advice or suggestions or recipes for phase 1. I have been working out too which seems to help the withdrawal. I have been trying to lose 20 lbs of baby weight since last year. I am really feeling motivated so I hope this works.

Thanks!

Mary Anne

For me, the sugar withdrawal was pretty much done within a week, which was really surprising to me. I don't crave it anymore, and it amazes me everyday. I do hope to enjoy an occasional slice of cake, etc one day, but I plan to make eating the South Beach way my lifestyle, with treats being a once in a while thing instead of an everyday thing! Hang in there! It is much easier in Phase 2:)

    Hi, Mary Anne .....

I'm a Mary Ann also :flowerforyou:

Good for you taking charge of your weight concerns ...... congrats on losing weight ...... and welcome to this little corner of the weight-loss world !

I've been following a SB-style way of eating for 4 years now ...... find it pretty easy & not as expensive as eating out alI the time ...... plus I lost 40+ lbs and have managed to keep it off ...... but I always knew I wanted to lose another 10 lbs or so ...... that's why I'm here ...... counting calories & upping my exercise is starting to pay off !

BTW, your sugar cravings should be gone by the middle of the second week ....... although I won't kid you ........ if you start eating SUGAR later on (or any of its relatives) the cravings will probably return ...... been there & done that

    Happy losing !
