Day before first night shift- eat for 24 hrs or not at all?

I apologize if this is a repeat! I work 3, 12's and the day before my first shift I have no idea how to eat without going way over. I start work at 7pm and that would mean almost 24 hours of calorie intake. I try to work out before work but that only really buys me 300 calories max. Do you fast? Eat really lightly? Eat normally and just deal with all the extra cals? I'm new to nights and have a pretty good menu planned for the times when I've slept until 3pm but the first shift has got me stumped. Help me veterans of the night! Thanks:)
