Wow I cant believe Im writing that I've ran for 30 mins solid, covered 2.11 miles in that time, and I thought I was going super slow!

Its taken 14 weeks to get here, as I've repeated a couple of weeks, and had some time off due to sickness, but I feel fantastic after running that :-)

My advice to anyone starting or getting along with their journey of C25K, just be ready to pull right back and run slower, it really does help, and it is achievable, I started the C25K at least 20lbs heavier and am still 220lbs, but its amazing how it feels to achieve it.

I've not had any injuries, as I've listened to my body and recognise pain compared to general aches, I had the inkling of a shin splint so backed off to really short intervals again and changed my running shoes (this is soooo important) and all is well, and I ice my shins after every run to be on the safe side!

Now onwards and upwards :-)

  • Woohoo! You're almost done! :D It's amazing, isn't it, knowing you can jog for that long. I agree about taking it slow. I finished the program last week and yesterday I went faster and my body did not enjoy! It may take longer, but slow and steady is the way to go, I find.

Do you have plans for after you finish the program?

It is, I cant believe Im here lol!

Oh glad to hear you done the slow down approach too :-)

I want to get it a bit faster eventually, and do a 5k run, and maybe work upto a 10k next? Need an app for that :-)

    YIPPEE!!! :drinker:

I'm gonna try W9D1 in a couple days. I've been adding some speed intervals in, but while it does feel good to go faster, I can't keep it up and I end up having to take little walk breaks. Maybe I'll try to keep it slower, but hopefulyl not dragging my feet slow!

Congrats on your progress! I am doing W9D2 today. I've made it this far with no injuries and only minor side stiches. I never thought I'd run 30+ minutes again after not doing it for about 8 years. Heston, If you are looking for a 10k app I know the Run Double app on Android phones has one. I am going to start that after I do my 5k in November.

Congratulations on your success! Totally agree about running slower. The goal of C25k is to gain the ability to run five kilometers. Not to run five kilometers in 30 minutes. Time has nothing to do with it. I wish more new runners would stop getting caught up in time/pace and focus on the fact that they are accomplishing things they've never done.
  • Really great to hear, well done you!

I have just finished week 6, to be honest the thought of running for a whole 25 minutes today without stopping was a bit scary but once I was half way it went so quick and became easier, I'm hoping it will become easier over the next couple of weeks.

Like you I'm not quick, but I want to run the whole 5k without stopping and eventually get quicker.

Well done, you have done fab! :)

Thank you for all your lovely comments everyone :-)

Yes, slowing down has been the key, so at the moment I'm running for 30 mins, and will see how that goes, and eventually set for 5k exactly in whatever time it takes, I've got RunDouble for the C25K, so will use the 10k progression app after I've actually completed the 5k :-)

Went out for D2 today, ran a shorter distance, so must have been slower, 1.91 miles, but I have a PT session later and Im saving energy, so didnt push as hard!lol

Well done to everyone on their accomplishments too :-)
