Ive read some of this book and I love the results all of you have been having!! Im a runner and cardio is the only thing I know how to do! I want the arm of the lady on the book.. seriously I need to "tone" up! (Ive read the book- i know what is said about those terms- lol)
I have no free-weights but I do have a bowflex. Is this a stupid question: Can I use the bowflox and what it offers in place of the free wights it requires? I dont go to a gym ( I have a school gym but it is SERIOUSLY lacking!)
So? How should I proceed?

I'm by no means an expert, but from my understanding you will eventually need the free weights. The type of lifts you'll be doing will require them. For example, is a Bowflex going to allow for squats and deadlifts? Just my thoughts, but I've never used a Bowflex so who knows! Welcome to the program either way!0

The advantage of free weights is that it makes the moves "compound movements". Isolation machines work muscles in, well, isolation. With the the free weights, you are using multiple muscle groups to not only move the weight, but to stabilize your body as you move. I would go ahead and start with the machine, but then think about switching over. Oh, and go ahead and keep doing the cardio you so enjoy. He advocates it more in later programs. Just make sure you have some scheduled rest days in your week.0
