Stay on Phase 1 for another week or move on

HI All

So my 2 weeks of Phase 1 will be completed on sunday. I am down 8.6lbs and after not losing anything for the last 8 months this has been incredible! I feel great and I sinply amazed at the change. So I am scared to start Phase 2. Should I do another week on Phase 1 or should I go ahead and jump to Phase 2. What are your experiences with this? I know there are some of you who have been living this SB way for quite a while and may have more insight. I mean the plan is to move to Phase 2 after 2 weeks so should I just go with it? Any suggestions or inut is appreciated! Love this group!

  • Congrats on doing such a great job and staying so focused! I get your excitement...it is so much fun seeing the scale move in the right direction.

You have less than 100 pounds to lose...that is usually the criteria whether to stay on P1 longer. Just add one small fruit and one serving of starchy veggie or bread...I use Ezekiel bread ... the veggie could be a very small sweet potato for example. One week with one and one....then move up to two.

Do not be nervous, btw. Just trust in the program ... do what you have been doing. Use snacks (veggie and protein) if you need them to keep you from getting too hungry and making the wrong choices.

One last thing...remember this is a lifestyle...not a diet per se. This is how you will be eating the rest of your life. (Occassional treats will be on the program...but they must be occasional). So remember how terrific you are feeling now while eating so "clean". It will keep you in this game for a lifetime.

Just checked in and saw your post, so I'm a little late;) But, I would jut say not to be scared of Phase 2. Just add the carbs back slowly, like Dr. Agatston says in the book. I moved right into Phase 2 after my two weeks on Phase 1 and have had no problems. I have continued to lose at a rate of about 2 & 1/2 lbs a week. Since hitting mid-40s (I am 49 now) losing weight has been really hard. South Beach is making it happen for me. Good luck to you...let us know how you are doing! Oh...and feel free to add me as a friend, of you like:)
