Hi all.
i have a taper question.
what do you think is best- i'm having an internal struggle with the pros and cons of my final long run choice.
ok, so what do you think looks best? following are 2 final long run scenarios, describing the 6 (one a week) long runs. do i continue with option one or option 2?
OPTION 1 OPTION 2
18 miles 18 miles
13 miles 13 miles
16 miles 16 miles
12 MILES 22 MILES
6 miles 6 miles
marathon marathon
opinions please. do i run 12 or 22 miles on monday? but i do know that my fitness is already established. i just want an opinion if you would be so kind. what would you do? i'm leaning towards the 22 miler more for psychological reasons. maybe i should just do a 20 miler instead. i don't know.

My $.02 - I'd try for anything between 18 - 22. I would route yourself so you can stop at 19 or 20 if you aren't feeling great, or add an extra mile or two at the end if you are really feeling good.
Also, I think 6 the week before is a little short - I like 8 or 10 instead. But again, stay flexible.

yeah, the last weeks run will be 15kms- that's just me and my poor brain spazzing out because i work in kms and not miles.

20 this week - then taper
16 next week
8 last week

ok, so i'm going with:
36k, 5 days later 15k, then 7 days after- marathon.0
