Dating Jitters

I'd give alot, alot alot, alot...... just to have a man's brain
OMG .. I would love to have a mans brain for just one day and see what goes on in there!
Oh I'm learning (from what I'm told and I observe) what goes on in there and it seems soo simple.... None of this overanalyzing crap that goes on in mine. LOL
I've gotta believe it is not as simple as beer, boobs and sports!
those 3 items would be in my top 10 most important things in life. Maybe stay away from a sports bar if you're looking for conversation on a date.
What if the guy is an *kitten* man?0 -
I don't get nervous hardly at all anymore. Most of my first date experiences have been pretty fun, so I just realized there's not a whole lot to worry about.
This is me too. Sorry to let you down ladies :noway:
I never worry about conversation, what to drink or eat or what I'm wearing or how I look. I am who I am and I don't expect every guy to fancy me, nor do I think I will fancy every guy. It will either click or it won't. I meet new people all the time with my job, so I guess I'm confident in my abilty to keep someone entertained for an hour or two......lol
I think I USED to get nervous but I've realised that its just not worth the angst with internet dating as as most of the time the guy is just a misfit or a freak!!
OH! I've never ever blown out a date once I've agreed to one. But there are loads of guys I haven't wanted to meet after speaking on the phone........but that's another story :huh:0 -

It would look like this:
(beer,boobs,sports) - (boobs) + (*kitten*) = (beer,*kitten*,sports).0 -

(beer,boobs,sports) - (boobs) + (*kitten*) = (beer,*kitten*,sports).
Roger... I have to date *kitten* men because I got the wrong boob genes in my family! :sad:0 -
I LOVE meeting new people! I am never nervous...it is pretty much always exciting and interesting for me to make a new acquaintance, friend or more, whether through work, in a grocery store lineup or mutual activity.
First dates to me are like job interviews..yes I like those too! It is a chance for me to start fresh, dress up, put my best foot forward..and I love the unknown and possibilities.
Yup...I adore talking and am extroverted to a fault. I have complete and utter faith in my ability to befriend or amuse just about anyone for a decent length of time.0 -
I have 4th date jitters right now. At least I look cute.0

Bah, boobs are over rated I think. Besides you should trust an *kitten* man. Since they like them and cannot lie. >.>0 -
I don't get the Jitters because really what is their to lose... I'm single today, if the date goes bad I only go back to single... I don't lose an inch on my crank or anything. However in the last year I have gotten pretty accustom to my routine and I do get a little edgy breaking it... so I have been known to think of reasons to not go on dates.
Do you mean like, you kinda psych yourself out for whatever reason?0 -
Sorry ladies, but a man's brain wouldn't fit in your small skulls.
hahahahaha  :drinker:
Well, as you chaps apparently only use one half of your brain at a time, there shouldn't be any space issues inside a female skull since we only need the functional bit Female lateral thinking at its' best
To answer the OP, for me it would be a combination of years of social conditioning telling me that my not-a-size-8, not perfectly-toned-and-airbrushed body is undesirable, and the fear (which I know is irrational, but don't seem to be able to override) of rejection on those grounds.
Actually, for me, I guess the nerves are all about rejection really - I wasn't ever one of the popular kids at school, and got used to social outsider-dom pretty early on - before I turned 5, in fact. Though that situation has reversed a lot as I grew older, my developed instinct is to avoid situations where that experience, familiar but still painful, is likely. I've worked hard to conquer that fear, after an epiphanous moment in which I realised I approached new people not expecting to be liked, and have mostly succeeded in non-romantic situations, though it still takes more internal goading than others might guess from my public persona. When the stakes are so much higher, meeting a potential romantic partner, the nerves are that much greater, and the instinct for self-protection commensurately stronger.0 -
castadvia .. I don't know why, but I picture you sounding like Julia Child .. is that what you sound like?0

More thinking of excuses of why doing what I'd normaly do would be better than going on the date. In the 8 or so dates I've been on in the last year I haven't been excited about any of them... so maybe if I hit one that gets me excited I won't have any 2nd thoughts about going.0 -

I don't know - what does Julia Child sound like?! I'll go YouTube her and then I may have an answer for you. BTW, would it be a compliment or an insult, to say someone sounds like Julia Child? She's not a particularly familiar name this side of the Atlantic, so I don't know what the connotations are!
Edit: I've just had the best giggle of the day listening to Julia Child on YouTube - what a hoot! No, I don't sound like that (I don't think! ), though she does vaguely remind me of my mother when she's in one of her more theatrical moods, apart from the accent. Think more along the lines of a cross between Helen Mirren and the young Maggie Smith.:happy:0 -

Do not know Anna... but I will say I was pretty excited the first time I met all my gf that lasted more than a month. I had a date last night and it was blahhh. I'm coming to the conclusion that if I'm not excited going into the date I'm not going to go.0 -

Well .. If I had cancelled my date, that I was completely unexcited about .. I wouldn't have had some fun last night!0 -

That works for me too. I try not to go on dates I'm not excited about. I've done it once or twice and been even more underwhelmed on the date.....
Mind you, I've been totally excited and been thoroughly disappointed too :huh:0 -

Yeah, but you were just trying to find an excuse not to date. More to do with you, than him?? :flowerforyou:0 -
For some reason, I don't get jitters when I'm meeting some one for the first time, especially if it's someone from a dating website....however, I get jitters if I want to approach a female for the first time when I'm out and about. FOr example: Last night I wanted to approach this young lady that was sitting at the bar with her lady friend... I had the jitters.. I didn't approach them either.. lol.. my lost.
