Coconut Oil success or non-success stories please

I have been reading a bunch about coconut oil for Hashimotos and would love to hear some of your experiences with it and what the result has been, good..bad...or nothing. I am reluctant to use it too much because it is so high in calories and prefer to eat my fat in almond butter which I love. I also am curious to know how high you have your fat set on your macros. Mine is only set at 20%, so also not much room for too much coconut oil. Please enlighten me specifically in differences you saw directly related to the coconut oil and/or fats.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I tried it for about 6 months- just having about a tablesoon flaked onto my cornflakes, or occasionally when cooking food. Didnt notcie any difference to be honest.
Stupid time- I also am curious to know how high you have your fat set on your macros.
What is your macros?0 -
Percentage of fats, protein and carbs. If you go into settings and goals, you can custom set your macronutrients. I follow mine pretty close, some do and some don't. You can look at the pie chart if you go into summary, then daily.0

I personally can't do anything with coconut. I guess I'm allergic. Gives me a terrible migraine and other horrid side effects, but I have heard it's great for weight loss in general. Has some good nutrients for hair and skin as well0

I've been using it to cook my egg whites in the morning, and it does seem to satisfy me more. The taste is pretty good too. I'd say I use about a teaspoon, and I do notice that it does cause some cramps, so I've been hesitant to add more. Great for energy and saiety though!0

If there is anything in coconut oil that does anything, there isn't enough of it in a teaspoon to have an effect. It's very nice in cakes though.0

I use coconut oil and do see a difference. When I first started using it, I would end up having a hot flash (this has now stopped) right after I had taken it. My doc thinks I might be going to the hyper side of things, and I've been hypo for 9 years. We're actually lowering my meds. It just needs to be virgin coconut oil. If you decide to use it, build up to the amount you want to use so it doesn't irritate your stomach. My understanding is that you want to take 1 Tablespoon for every 50 lbs. of weight but I only do 2 Tablespoons since that is all I can tolerate. Also, I do have some friends that do not count their coconut oil calories in their diaries. I've done it both ways. I think I've got my fat macro at 30 percent.0

Hi,
I am a "success story" for coconut oil. I started using it when I couldn't lose the last 10 lbs. Now, you probably need to know that I eat "clean" ALL the time. I had NO fat in my diet at all, so the addition of any fat was such a shock to my body! I instantly started losing wt. again.
I had to start slow, adding 1/2 tsp a day, but quickly got up to 2 TBS a day. I don't always eat that much anymore, and sometimes I eat up to 3 TBS a day. It made me feel so much better, really helped with a lot of my thyroid symptoms also. Here's a link you can check out what they say.

It is also said that virgin olive oil helps in much the same way, with wt. loss. The whole "no-fat" craze for diets is now taking a swing in the other direction. Wheat bellies is another interesting web site that talks about the gluten & refined carbs that have been making us fat.
I also have a pinterest board for all the fitness-diet stuff I find online, if you want to do some interesting research you can find many links of interest there.

I don't think it did much for me, but maybe I wasn't consistent enough either.0
