Heavy bleeding between periods

So i had a period on Oct 4th, lasting about 4-5 days, and didn't start my new pack of birth control, seeing as though I won't be having sex for another 5 months (military wife). So then here i am.. starting on the 18th, i had some light spotting, pink and brown. And starting yesterday, full on bleeding, heavy like a period. What the hell is going on? I've never had spotting due to birth control, im not pregnant. Is this a cyst that has ruptured? Any of you ever had this issue? I did have some ovarian pain in the first few days, here and there, and a little today, but nothing too bad. I must be having issues with my iron levels (kind of a normal thing with me these days) because i feel very weak and tired. I'm starting to wonder, is this bleeding going to just run into my upcoming period? Sigh....

    This has definitely happened to me before. It was the reason I went to the doctor and finally got a PCOS diagnosis. I use to get my period it seemed like at least twice a month and bleeding all the time and sometimes it would be extremely heavy. They did an ultrasound and took a biopsy and the lining of my uterine walls were very thick. I don't know if this is what is happening to you or not. I am also wondering if this is just a symptom of your PCOS that is usually controlled by the birth control you are on. If it continues, I would just go to the gyno just to make sure there is nothing else wrong, just to be safe. Have you had a cyst rupture before? Unfortunately my daughter has gone through this and it was extremely painful for her and I think most others as well. Hope this helps! It ain't easy having stinkin' PCOS! :)

    Thanks for your reply! I'm due for a yearly this month, so i think i'll talk to them when i go about all of this. I don't like being on BC if possible, but with PCOS... i dont know if thats possible. I have had cyst rupture before, and it was VERY painful, but never bled. I just wondered if it was that because when i looked up reasons for why this is going on, multiple times, it said a cyst/ruptured cyst. All i know is im weak as hell, guessing my iron is low. I hate this CRAP!
