    Hi ladies,
lovely to join this group. I am 51 years old, married with two boys (23 and 21). I love the hunting and collecting, preparation and cooking of food. I also have a very healthy and strong relationship with wine. I am attempting Ocsober this year in support of a friend ( not drinking any alcohol for October ). I will be taking Sat 12th off from Ocsober and donating to charity for every glass I have :)
Have been struggling with my commitment to my MFP diary and exercise has gone out the window!
Looking forward to getting back on track.
    Cheers,
    Vicky

    Hi, I'm Terrie

I'm 49 on Sunday, divorced, no kids of my own, raising my nephew's 5 yr. old daughter. I am definitely too old to be raising a 5 yr. old!!! I am a Type 1 diabetic and have had a weight problem longer tan I can remember. I originally joined MFP to check on the carb counts on some of the foods I was eating. After New Year's I decided it was time to get this weight under control. Since Jan. 7th, 2013, I've lost 53lbs. I'm strictly counting calories and exercising, and I log every day.

I'm visually impaired, complications of the diabetes, and have lived with my mom for the last 19 years. Since my mom loves to cook and is a great cook, I don't get to cook as much as I would like. I've been trying to get her to let go of the kitchen duties, but its hard to teach an old dog new tricks. I'm looking forward to learning new things from you, and sharing things I've learned. I'm interested in trying out some new, healthy recipes. Just as a side note, I was a volunteer instructor at the Braille Institute Desert Center, teaching cooking/kitchen skills to blind and visually impaired adults. I also taught a food exploration class where we explored different foods. One of the interesting things I learned as I did research for the class was that botanically speaking, bananas are an herb.

    Happy tasting, Terrie

My name is Tricia, I will be 53 next month and I live in Florida. I am married with two children ages 15 and soon to be 17 in November. I work in retail as a Live Nursery Specialist so I work outdoors mostly and constantly moving. I have always been very active and hadn't had an issue with weight until the last 7 & 3/4 years when I quit smoking. I also slowed down with activity but not with my serving sizes I am looking to make some genuine friends. I am originally from Pennsylvania and that is where my friends and I kind of faded when I moved to Florida.

Hi all! My name is Angel and currently live in Virginia. I just turned 51 and am tired of being so unhappy about my weight. I'm the only one that can do anything about it so here I am. I miss my home state of Indiana and my friends back there. I've been here for 3 years with no plans of moving back so it is time to stop feeling sorry for myself and get moving and eating healthy! I'm married, a mom of 3 and a grandma of 2 beautiful little boys. I welcome your friend requests.

Hello, my name is Pat. I am from Tennessee. I have gained 50 lbs during the past ten years. I am really beginning to realize that at 58 years of age, I MUST get serious about my health. I would love to have friends for the motivation and support! I am totally new to mfp and calorie counting. I have a lot to learn and a long way to go, but with courage and motivation, I believe I can do it with the help of the Lord.

    Thanks , Pat

Hello, I'm Michelle. I am from Missouri and am 44 years old. I have two boys ages 9 and 3 -yep we got started late - and I started staying home with my 3 year old in May of this year. Going from a full time career woman of 20 plus years to staying home has been interesting and rewarding. My weight has been a probably since my late 20's - too much partying and eating not enough exercise. Plus the babies and now I have 35 lbs to get rid off which I am discovering is near impossible at my age. I joined to help get a plan together to get this weight off once and for all. I welcome any motivation and friends for the journey.

    Hello, ladies.

I'm Tammy, 41 years old, from Northeastern Ohio. I have a 17 year old son who will be graduating HS in May 2014 and then (fingers crossed) entering the military. I've worked for the same company for 23 years but plan on resigning next year (after my son graduates and I find another job) and moving to California.

I was chubby as a teen and steadily gained weight after I had my son at 24. Earlier this year I decided that enough was enough. After countless diets and failed exercise programs, I got serious about making some changes. I've lost 56 lbs. and have went from a size 20 to a size 12. I'd like to lose 34 more lbs. and hope to see a size 10 again :) I'm looking at this not as a diet, but as a lifestyle change - one that I'm excited to make. My plans next year include moving to a new state, for a new job, with a new life, and a new body.

    Hi,
I am Sherrie and will be 42 on December 8. I will be celebrating this by doing the Santa Shuffle fundraiser.

Ultimately that is my goal, to live a longer and healthier life by staying active.

Hi! I'm Carol. I'm just getting back to MFP after a long absence. I've been kidding myself that because by sugar and cholesterol was okay it didn't matter that I was 100 pounds overweight. I have now decided to make a new commitment to myself and be as healthy as I can. I'm 57, married and have no children. I'm excited to be a part of this amazingly positive group.

Hi I'm Karen. I'm 51 years old and am looking to lose the stomach area that hits most of us at that age. I never had to diet until this age thing kicked in! I married late in life and am very happy with my hubby. We have no children. My sister-in-law says that what I have is what she calls "happy fat"! I love that analogy but still want to get rid of it (the stomach that is!). I'm pretty new to MFP having just joined a week or so ago. I think it is great and I've already met some wonderful friends here! The hubby and I dine out every Saturday night and I enjoy my nightly glasses of wine! These are things I don't care to give up either. I'd love to meet more people with similar goals and lifestyle and feel that this group looks like the place to do so. Looking forward to talking with you all!!!

Hi my name is Teri and I am 58 years old.
I have 2 children, 1 stepchildren. 1 grandson, and a darling supportive husband.

In 2009 I was diagnosed with Sjögren's Syndrome, RA and Lupus after being very ill for 8-1/2 years. I have lost myself in dealing with this and what my body can physically do. I use to lift weights and ride bike 500 miles a week. Now I can't ride like Armstrong but I can do Rail trails which are slower paced and have soft grass if I fall. Also now it is so hard to lose weight and my body shape has changed dramatically.

Last week I suffered a meltdown and realized that I had to rewire my mind and what I was thinking. Also eating to desensitize myself was making my autoimmune diseases worse. I went from 135 to 204 and for the 1st time I am actually logging what I eat. What an eye opener! So I have lost 4+ lbs this last week and I am putting 1 foot in front of the other.

I am hoping to find healthier ways to eat and not give up all my food loves.

Hello! I signed up for MFP and this group, last week, but haven't yet introduced myself. I'm Aralu. I just turned 50 in August and have a significant amount of weight to lose. My primary motivation is for health reasons but I would also like to get out of Women's sizes because there are so many more clothing options in regular sizes!

I eat out a lot but have recently started cooking at home much more often. My entire little family is moving into the clean eating thing, which makes it much easier for me.

My husband and I have been married 23 years. We have two kids - an 18 year old daughter and 21 year old son - who still live at home with us. (We also have two dogs and two cats.) We recently started taking Tai Chi classes and the more we do it, the more we enjoy it. (It's amazing what a workout it can be.)

    I'm happy to be here!

Hello! I am a 47 y.o. mom of a freshman college student and a sophomore in high school.
I have been happily married for 22 years!
I have never really battled weight, but the mid to late 40's are slowing my metabolism down! I used to be big into working out, but became burnt out a couple yrs ago, now I prefer brisk walks :-)
I just found MFP, and am sooo excited to keep on track and see some results! I am hoping to lose 15 pounds, I have my fingers crossed that MFP will keep me on track throughout the holiday season, when indulging is sooo tempting!
I plan on spending time on this site to keep me motivated, it seems like such a positive tool!
Yes, lunch with my girlfriend's is a necessity in life !!

Hi everyone, I joined MFP a while ago and was doing good. Had unexpected surgery where I lost all my goal weight and then some. Looked great but was very anemic. Ate more to gain weight and feeling better. Gained a little too much (love chocolate and junk food - hey, I needed to gain weight to get stronger) and now I need to loose about 15 - 20 pounds depending on where I want to end up. It was either eat more or get B-12 injected into my veins. Wasn't part of my game plan at the time. Now that my dr has OK'd me exercising again I lost 1 pound so far. It was a tough year but I am doing great compared to where I was and am looking forward to many more years. At 61, I plan on being a sexy senior citizen!
