I just downloaded the book, and read through it and skimmed through the workout sections. Can anyone tell me more about it? If they are currently doing it, and if so how far along? How it's going, how are you feeling, etc? If you've already completed it as well, any tips and advice. I would greatly appreciate it...
Thanks!

Im currently in stage 4. It is a great program, I like that it maps everything out for you. Some of the excercises get repetitive and that can be annoying but I keep telling myself it will be worth it in the end. I don't do the warm up sets it suggests, I just dont have the time. I usually run on the treadmill or outside for 10-20 minutes before hand. Just make sure you push yourself! For most excercises I add 5 lbs each time even if I think I can't do it, not once have I not been able to complete the sets and reps. I found I underestimate my strength gains. Good luck and feel free to add me or ask questions. Have fun!

I just started it last week. Already feeling stronger! I think it's a good beginner program. I am doing the metabolism reset here with it. Then, after 8 weeks will do TDEE -15%. There are some great spreadsheets if you join the NROLFW group that lay the workouts out in an easy to use/understand format. Several people here do a workout STS by Cathe Friedrich. I may do that when I complete New Rules. People have said it's a great starter program. Luck!0

I am at the end of it in Phase 6. I had never done weight lifting so it was a great program for me to start with. I am definately stronger and have built up strength. You need to continue to try and add more weight during the program to challenge yourself.
I am trying to figure out what I go to next. He has a new book coming out in December. I may give that a try.0 -
I just started last week. I'm not new to weightlifting, I was on the school weightlifting team in high school. (but hadn't done any lifting since.) So I figured it would be a good place to start. I'm loving it! My only tip would be, don't psych yourself out about increasing weight. If you think you can't lift it, you probably won't be able to. :bigsmile:0

Just about to start stage 5. Have never seen my body look like this. Great beginners program to strength training. Looking forward to finishing the program, though, and splitting my workouts in the future however between upper and lower body so I can lift 4 x per week but not get DOMS throughout my entire body the next day! lol
Can't recommend it enough. You will see changes in your body so quickly through newbie gains and you will love fuelling up for your workouts0 -
I started New Rules about mid-summer. I am currently on Stage 3, as I had had to take about 5 weeks off after a serious hamstring injury (from running). I lift heavy 3x per week, and run 2x. I can't say as I've lost weight at all (there could be many factors involved here; I'm trying to suss out the actual cause for the non-loss), but I am definitely stronger, and even just walking around I can feel that my body is much denser, more solid. I was just thinking that today at the gym, that it felt more 'solid.' It was more muscular, less flab flailing around.
Anyway, I highly recommend following the program. The only thing I don't do is the Interval Training that comes in around Week 3, because I already am getting serious cardio from training for a 5k my two weekdays off from lifting.
So if you're cleared medically for heavy lifting, go for it! Your body will thank you in a few months.0
