Welcome to week 5 of our fantastic challenge! Are you ready ladies? Here we go....

Our challenge this week is based on Forks area Fun Facts:

9.8 miles - The distance between Forks and Jacobs house (exercise challenge)
121 inches - average rainfall and 162 inches rain that actually fell in 1997 (fiber challenge)
212 - days per year of measurable rainfall ( water challenge)

EXERCISE:tongue:
This week we are going to start our journey in downtown Forks and head for Jacobs house just outside of LaPush ---via exercise.

You choose your method- walk, run, jog, swim, or crawl your way. All forms of exercise are permissible. (Driving to your destination however is frowned upon!).

Each 15 minutes of exercise equates to one mile, therefore the goal is to reach Jacobs house in 147 minutes of exercises. You never know what sites you may take in along the way, so be sure to share your experiences with the group!

Markers to help you chart your progress:
Jacobs house 9.8 miles (you have arrived!)
Treaty line 3 Rivers Road. 9.5 miles
Wilson Road. 7.5 miles
Goodman Mainline Road. 7 miles
Quiliute Road. 4.5 miles
LaPush Road 1.5 miles

FIBER CHALLENGE:bigsmile:
Fiber is really good for us, and according to the MAYO Clinic website, it can help us maintain a healthy digestive system, lower blood cholesterol, lower blood sugar levels, and aid in weight loss!

We will focus on getting our fiber intake to closely match those inches of rainfall numbers, 121 and 162 grams this week, that equates to getting between 17 and 23 grams of fiber each day. (The daily recommendation for women under 50 is 25 per day and over 50 is 21 per day).

Lets not forget that when you eat more fiber, you need to drink plenty of water to help it do its job efficiently, which leads to the next topic- drinking water. We don't want any one to have tummy troubles.

WATER CHALLENGE :drinker:
Reportedly, the Forks area has measurable precipitation on average of 212 days per year. That rain creates the beautiful lush forests that hide our Vampires and Wolves so well, it fills the rivers and streams which provide drinking water to the animals that the vampires and wolves eat. This serves as a reminder that, like the rains that nourish the lands, water nourishes our bodies. Our bodies are comprised of 60% water. Per the MAYO Clinic, water flushes toxins out of vital organs, carries nutrients to your cells and provides a moist environment for ear, nose and throat tissues. Believe it or not, staying hydrated actually helps prevent water retention.

This week lets strive to drink that 64 ounces of water each day. If you have trouble drinking all that water, remember that the increased fiber intake this week will require better hydration.

FUN FACTS:smooched:
On a final note, since our challenge this week is based of Forks Area Fun Facts, lets share some Fun Facts that are Twiight or Forks Area related!

Lets have a super week ladies!

    Day One Progress Check.....

    CARDIO
Ehhh heck, well so far I am still in The thriving metropolis of Forks. No working out today, as I worked late, and then had errands to run so I didn't get home until almost 7 p.m. Hmmm,,can I count 'running' errands. Okay, we'll I guess not.

    FIBER
Wooohoo I got in 27 grams today.

    WATER
40 ounces so far, will drink more before bed time..

    Fun facts to share:
Did you know that James aka Cam Gigandet was born in Tacoma Washington? I wonder if he has ever really been to Forks!

CARDIO - Still at home in Forks

FIBER - 16gm which is an increase for me

    WATER - 10 glasses

Not really a fun fact or anything, but today I feel like I'm actually in Forks. This rain will not stop

CARDIO - If 15 minutes = 1 mile, I can see La Push Road in the distance.

FIBER - 39g of fiber! It helps that I made a big pot of potato bean soup which is the same as a big pot of fiber.

    WATER - 8 glasses

Forks fun fact -- The road from Port Angeles to Forks that Edward drove Bella along at over 100 mph is truly scary. I drove it at about 30. You would have to be a vampire to manage it at 100! (Although the locals certainly don't go 30).

    day 1 stats:
miles: just over 2 - on la push road and trucking
fiber: i'd rather not discuss it!
water: 32 ounces - pretty sad, but that's an improvement for me these days!

fun twilight fact: in the first movie when it showed bella and edward up at the top of those incredibly tall trees, those were really stunt doubles who actually did climb them - no helicopter landing or cranes or anything like that!

alright - three miles closer to the phenomenal jacob black's house! this is going to be a long trek. there was a time when i could have reached his house in two days, since i was at the gym an average of 2 hours per day. i would be in the meadow after a week! but my 45 minutes i just put in has my legs turned to jelly! sheesh! the cool thing is that even though i worked out about the same amount as yesterday, i burned less calories. of course, i want to burn more calories, but i like to think that my body is already getting used to the cardio just after two days, so it's already not as hard on my heart. does that make sense? maybe i'll be back in the groove here sooner than i think - that would be lovely!

ps~technically, i only worked out 44 minutes, but since i was a little over budget yesterday, i'm putting it in as a full 3 miles for today - hope that's not cheating too badly!

    happy tuesday, everyone!

CARDIO - 80 minutes - I'm past the Quileute Road! (Thanks to the event at the zoo last night AND having to carry my daughter part of the way...she weighs 43 lbs!).

FIBER - 11g of fiber - Yesterday was a bad food day all around!

    WATER - 8 glasses

Fun Fact: The Median Age for the population of Forks is 31.3. I don't think they took Carlisle or Edward's ages into consideration when the census came through!

I just want to say how much I look forward to coming to our little forum and reading about everyone's progress and the fun things Twilighty that you have shared. It really keeps me motivated.

    CARDIO
30 minutes, 2 miles. I've got off of 101 and am now on LPush road. Will camp there tonight and have heard there are grizzlies in the area. Emmet and Rosalie have been on a trip, but are expected to return this evening. I am in hopes that they will handle the grizzly issue, so that we can camp safely.

    FIBER
just hit 17 today. I prefer to be higher than that, oh well.

    WATER
40 Ounces at this time, but have my water bottle handy and plan to drink more before the day is over.

    Fun Fact
When the ‘evil vampires’ make their first appearance, actors Cam Gigandet, Rachelle Lefevre and Edi Gathegi are all wearing little slippers painted like bare feet. (From Twilight Movie Trivia- Twilighters.org). I remember seeing their feet and thinking they were rubber. They were really disgusting looking. Then I wondered if Edward had ugly feet too, but seeing Breaking Dawn showed me that his feet are fine, he just has some long toes!

    alrighty, day 2 stats:

3 miles today (well, 44 minutes - close enough!)
    water: 64 ounces
fiber: i have no idea. i haven't exactly started back logging food, but i have a feeling it was more then yesterday.

hope you all have a nice night!
Fun Fact: The Median Age for the population of Forks is 31.3. I don't think they took Carlisle or Edward's ages into consideration when the census came through!

i wonder if that's because of the random vamp attacks?

Cardio: 45 minutes. I am 3 miles close to Jacob's house.
    Fiber: 27
    Water:64

Sorry, I worked too late to come up with a fun fact but I will try to give 3 tomorrow to make up for it.

***Surf, don't get me started on those long toes again. Just when I was trying to behave. :smokin:

CARDIO -60 minutes, so I'm close to the Quelute road

FIBER - 14 gm - this one is going to be the one that is hard for me this week

    WATER - 5 glasses

Whatever Meyer's brief Google search said, Forks, Washington is not the rainiest town in America. [1]
But it is the Mecca of Cullenism. And a living hell for Twilight haters, it is reported that one out of every 3 squealing teenage girls there are Twi-tards, the other two are squealing about the Jonas Brothers or Metro Station. Squeeling fangirls wanted to meet their HAWT, sparkling fictional vampire boyfriend. As someone told me who ACTUALLY lives in WA, it doesn't actually rain there often. In fact, it's actually sunny in Forks,Washington.

The police chief responds to "Charlie," there are shuttles to the meadow where the infamous "Chapter 13" wet dream supposedly took place, and there is a house marked "Bella's House," much to the chagrin of the real, human, and middle-aged couple living there, who have their daily lives and sleep patterns disrupted by fangirls squealing on their porch, and nobody would be surprised if Volvo has set up a dealership there for shiny, silver cars.

More proof that Meyer didn't do enough research is the lack of trees in Forks. Yes, trees surround the entire town, but it's a surprisingly open and blue-skyed town.

CARDIO - Slept in this morning so I still haven't gotten to La Push Road.

    FIBER - 41g of fiber!

    WATER - 9 glasses

Forks fun fact -- Even though Bella was very dismissive of the library in Forks, it is actually a good-sized library for a small town. And the librarian was awesome and loaned us a book on her own card as long as we promised to return it before we left town (we did).

CARDIO - No progress. Still at 80 minutes, past the Quileute Road!

FIBER - 24g of fiber - Thank you chili with dark red kidney beans!

    WATER - 8 glasses

Fun Fact: The city of Forks is named after the forks in the nearby Quillayute, Bogachiel, Calawah, and Sol Duc rivers.

    Fiber 20 grams
Water 64 oz. I was exta thirsty today
Cardio. 5 miles just past Quileute road. Nice and peaceful, we did hear some commotion last night and think that it was Emmet taking out a bear.

Twilighty fun facts. According to the website Homefacts, the Race Population breaks down as follows:.
LA PUSH, WASHINGTON IS 93% WHITE, 0% AFRICAN AMERICAN, 4% AMERICAN INDIAN, 2% ASIAN, 0% NATIVE HAWAIIAN, AND 0% SOME OTHER RACE.

What the heck? Does that seem right?

CARDIO - Got up in time to workout this morning, but I didn't, so I STILL haven't gotten to La Push Road. I have got to get a workout in tomorrow!

FIBER - 35g of fiber today, so my total is 121 grams! Too bad I can't use my fiber to get to Jake's house!

    WATER - 9 glasses

Forks fun fact -- The Miller Tree Inn that is billed in Forks as the Cullen House was for many years the home of the town doctor who had adopted children (I don't think the doctor was blond, looked like Zeus's better-looking, younger brother, or that the adopted children were 5 amazing beauties -- although they were probably very pale like most folk in Forks).

Yvonne, the Native American population in Forks is probably so low because most Quilluetes live across the treaty line.

Thank you Kathy, I knew something was amiss there. I will do some more research. Maybe the census just doesn't take into account wolves!

Cardio 123 minutes - 8.2 miles just beyond Wilson road! Can smell wolf in the air, or is that dog? (Oh Alice!)

Water 5 cups, and will have more before bedtime.

    Fiber. 25 grams

An interesting fact, according to the Quileute Nation website, high school age Quilleutes can either attend the tribal high school, or may choose to attend the Quillayute Valley public school located in Forks. Just think of what could have happened if the pack had attended high school, with the cold ones!

CARDIO - 83 minutes today and a total of 105, which means that I am finally getting closer to Jake's house 7 miles puts me almost to Wilson Road.

FIBER - 37g of fiber today, so my total is 158 grams!

    WATER - 11 glasses

Forks fun fact -- Because there is so much rain on the Olympic Peninsula, the roots of all those soaring trees are quite shallow. As a result, when powerful windstorms blow through the area, they cause massive "blow downs" that level huge swathes of forest. Locals then rush to harvest the downed trees.
