I'm so annoyed!

Hi all. I just joined the group, hoping to find other people struggling to stay active and lose weight. I've had chronic knee injuries since I was kid. Lots of that "knee popping/giving out" but never receiving a diagnosis and usually just going back to my usual activity when I felt better.

I've been trying to break a plateau for about a year and started running and doing more hard yoga when I started getting some new knee pain, like behind my knee cap, and that's how it's been for a while--I can't seem to stay on a consistent workout schedule and I know it's impacting how I lose. At this point, I can't like, sit cross-legged and such because the pain is so disgusting when I try to get up. I had an MRI and went to a specialist but nothing showed up--the doctor suggested I do yoga! So perhaps some of you can relate to my situation or at least going to expensive people only for them to tell you nothing should be wrong! Maybe I can even find some support around here--my knee really has been a demotivator for trying to reach my goal.

    I know where you're coming from. Due to early signs osteoarthritis in my left knee, there are some exercises I can't do anymore. I have a ton of Wii games and exercises I can't use anymore because they involve some sort of running or jumping which my doctor told me not to do.

    The only thing that I can do is walk. I have Leslie Sansone's Five Really Big Miles DVD and I can use that without feeling any pain in my knee. Go to thr library and see if you can checkout one of her DVDs to see is you can use that.

    I've had 3 knee surgeries so far and could possibly be looking at a fourth. It is extremely frustrating to want to get out and move & go at it full force, but not be able to. We have a small home gym, but I can't even walk down the stairs to get to it. So, I know exactly what you're feeling.
    The best way to move past it is to do what you can with what you have. (I'm talking to myself as much as you!! :blushing: )
    If you can't do any lower body exercises at all, just do upper body: weights, cardio, whatever you can.
    If you can do non-impact movements with your legs, do the elliptical, stationary bike, and knee-strengthening exercises. There's a ton of those on the internet, especially Youtube.
    Also, wearing a brace is a big help to me. It helps with the "going out from under you" feeling.
