"lump" in throat feeling

I have felt like I have a lump in my throat for the last two weeks. Not painful, but annoying and sometimes frightening feeling. I thought it might be my thyroid acting up again, I saw a GP today who said that it is most likely stress related/ nerves?? Really feels like there is something in there. Has anyone else experienced this? I am going to make an appoint to see my endo also.

Also according to the the Dr office scale I have gained several pounds!! Not the appointment outcomes I was hoping for! :0

Thanks!

:noway: did he order blood tests? did u tell him u had trouble in the past?:noway:

i hate when drs blame stuff on stress or menopause.......i had a scary asthma attack first one ever at 52 n dr blamed it on menopause. I asked for an allergy test . at first she didnt want to order them- oh i doub iys allergies....and it came out i was allergic to mold and shellfish. i had eaten some shellfish before attack- and spentunuusal long time in my basement that weekpi would still be on asthma medicine if the dr didnt order the allergy tests.

good idea to go to endo.

i recently had twangs in my thyroid, and went back to my endo. i hadnt been in 4-5 yrs she took some blood and ordered soem ultra sounds. I had had many nodules -most had gone away with medicine and iodine, except one stubborn one on the isthmus.

i went off the meds as i needed to quit seeing her for a yr due to new private insurance had gone up to 900 month$m and they said i had to quit seeing the endo for a yr as it was deemed a pre existing health insurance, and they said my cost would go down.

pains are probably a thyroid problem:smooched:
  • I just had an ultrasound on my thyroid yesterday due to a nodule my new doctor found on my last visit. I always complained of this feeling but I am pretty used to it now. I am a little anxious of those results.

Usually I would notice that tight feeling when I'm very stressed.

My lymph nodes and tonsils flare up when I get sick and that feels tight. As I get over the illness, my throat feels more open like it should.

So far, my doctor hasn't said anything about thyroid nodules. My neck looks more or less normal.

Certain foods I would eat like bread or chicken, or drink carbonated drinks and food would get "caught" when I was swallowing. Had my thyroid out 3 months ago and don't miss that feeling at all :drinker:
