Paleo on Hold - or limited

Okay - so frustrated, I was just getting past the carb flu - when Sandy hit the Northeast. So I've been trying my best - but its not easy, when you have no power!!! I understand I should be hunting and gathering - there is just no way of doing anything with it when I get the food. I do notice how different I felt on strict Paleo - and can't wait to get back fully to the lifestyle. any suggestions on what I can do in the meantime. We aren't even staying at home - with my parents who also don't have power, but a tree fell on the house (luckily only deck damage) and we didn't feel comfortable staying there until its removed.

I totally hear you. I decided to go strict paleo just last week, and only had a few solid days of Paleo eating before Sandy hit. I was doing OK in my apartment but once I started staying w/ friends, I graciously ate what I was provided. Once life is someone back to normal (just got news our power finally came back on this morning!!!!!), I'm excited to jump into the whole30 challenge with both feet!!!
Stay safe and warm!!!! Hope everything gets better for you soon!!!0 -
First... so sorry for all you're dealing with. Sandy was a *****. My brother lost his home. Ugh.
Second... IMHO, you need to focus on getting through this rough patch without worrying about being strict Paleo. Eat as healthy as you can, but don't be so hard on yourself. This is a journey, not a race. If all goes well, you have the rest of your life to work on Paleo. Don't stress on it now. Just do what you can, and know that once the power comes back on, the streets are clear, and life gets back to normal, you'll be able to take control back over what you eat.
Good luck!0 -
Thank you - glad your power is back - I so want mine back as well. The kids are going stir crazy as well!!!0

I'm sorry about your brothers home - definitely makes one look at things in perspective. This is a journey, and i know there will be bumps in the road, but have to focus on what is important. Thank you again!0

Hang in there. And, remember that you are doing the thing that is conceptually the most important to the primal/paleo: you survive and adapt to your circumstances. Hang in there and fight on & strength to your family!0
