PMS making me overly depressed

Does anyone else have this problem? Rather than me being a bit irrational and emotional during that time I'm finding myself more and more often thinking much worse thoughts. I wanna call off my relationship, quit my job, move away somewhere on my own, but all I really do is sleep, think about when I can go back to sleep, and lay in bed crying when I cant sleep. I read something about PMDD and asked my Dr about it but she said its nothing to worry about and its probably just the symptoms of my depression worsening during pms.
Does anyone else have to deal with this? How do you get through it cause all I can think of is to sleep it off and keep myself away from people...

each month is different for me.... but in saying that it's like a cycle of 5-6mths... I'm sure if I tracked my systoms a pattern would emerge. have to admit thought I'm less then a week out & I"m sure if I don't watch it the black hole could swallow my up.... but then I know there are other contributing factors & pms is just magnifying it all.... normally I try & keep busy, gets lots of exercise leading up to it & try & get plenty of sleep... but normally didn't work this time...

maybe you need to track your systoms & rate them, so you can look back & see if there is a pattern. Note how you are feeling with life, work, what day is it & time.... this may all have an effect on how you are dealing with things...

I double the dosage of my anti-depressant when my PMS symptoms start and continue with that dosage until my period is tapering off. I've been doing that for years and it helps even though I've been told it shouldn't. I'd suggest you talk with your doc about that. Not all docs understand depression or PMS. It might be that a different med or birth control pills (or both) would help you. I used to take bc pills for mine, but lost my insurance and the free place wouldn't give me the kind I needed because my blood pressure is slightly high.

The other thing I do is to remind myself that I'm hormonally over emotional and don't allow myself to make any major decisions at that time of the month. I also have a super understanding bf who is glad I only get icky during part of the month and not every month. Like you, I tend to sleep a lot when I'm depressed. If you have a friend or sig other who can help you stay out of bed, that can really help.

I've also found that exercise helps alleviate at least some of my (mild during most of the month) depression.
