Does anyone else live with constant back pain from your scoliosis?
I do, and it's just become part of my life to alway have my back hurting. But, I would love to wake up one day without my back hurting.
How do you deal with it? Or what has worked for you in dealing with the pain? I visit my chiropractor and that helps for a bit, but then a week or so later, I'm back to square one.
Any suggestions?

My spine tilts slightly to the right.. my physiotherapist suggested that i sleep on my right side more often, and get up from the right side of the bed too.. worked for me.. i would get out of bed straighter for that particular day.. other docs suggested weight loss.. (i also had a surgery for slipped discs and stenosis in jan) .. wall sits make ur back stronger so that helps too.. most of these techniques i learnt at my therapy sessions.. and have been using them post-surgery too..0

Ugh I suck at keeping up with groups (even those that I start). When I was at my heaviest, every day was turning into a "bad back day". Now that I'm back at a good weight for me, it's down to once or twice a week. As for management, I've done a little of everything. I am prone to knots/spasms, for which hot baths with Epsom salts, massages, stretching, and the occasional muscle relaxor are my solutions.0

Naproxen sodium (Aleve) helps. Also core muscle strength building exercises. But sometimes? Just sitting with a heating mat.0

I'm under the hospital and have been told to lose weight even though my BMI is healthy in the hope that this may improve my pain. Im also having physiotherapy to stabilise my scoliosis doing lots of stretching exercise to try and balance my muscles better. I'm also working on my core muscles hopimg this will enable me to do exercise without hurting myself.0

The best thing I did for my back was to start lifting barbells, following Strong Lifts 5x5. Get advice from your Dr though, to make sure that your back isn't in such a curved state that moving large proportions of your body weight in compound (whole body) lifts around isn't going to damage it! If that programme is not suitable for you, ask for recommendations of what would be a good exercise regime.
If you have unbalanced muscle development, you can either do symmetric exercises at the level the weaker side can handle, or do asymmetric exercises to build up the weaker side.
I'm needing less doing each time I go to the chiro since I started weightlifting and stretching regularly. You may also find a short course of anti-inflammatory drugs breaks the cycle of pain. I do that occasionally.0 -

I'm the original poster and in the months since I posted this topic, I've been feeling much better. I'm sure dropping some weight has helped and I've also added in some stretches my doctor recommended that have helped strengthen my back and core.
But, some days are still a struggle.0
