New here!

Well new to the message board, not to MFP. I am a year and a half out of having a sleeve gastrectomy. I am about 25 pounds away from goal!! So I am using MFP to help me get those last few pounds off. I was just looking for a good support groupd and to talk to others who are familiar with this procedure and hopefully be able to help others!

WOW, you've done well. I started at 363 and my goal is also 165. I'm 5'8" and I'm hoping I can get down that far - it was my college weight (out of college nearly 40years now). I recently joined a gym and have now have a FitBit. After I reach goal and stabilize, I going for a panniculectomy. Lofty goals, I know, but I'm shooting for the stars. Welcome aboard!.:drinker:

Welcome!!! I had Lapband on 6/28/12. Started at 273. My goal is hopefully 150 but will be happy with 170. I JUST signed up to work with a personal trainer!!! Cannot wait to start training. Also have the FitBit. LOVE both the FitBit and MFP. Feel free to add me if you would like.

I've used MFP since March, had my bypass on 927/12 and am still relatively new to the group. At 5'5", my goal is 130, where my doctor's goal for me is 160. I am about 38 pounds away from the doc's goal, but know that I will not be satisfied. My weight loss is slow, and worries me at times, but my surgeon explains it in percentages. He says that because I have a small percentage to lose, the weight won't come off as rapidly as it would for someone with more to lose. I talked to him about joining a gym, and he suggested not to do it, unless it was a commitment I could make for the rest of my life. He believes that normal activity like walking, gardening, house cleaning, etc. are more realistic exercises and my focus should be "just keep moving." I am so glad that I was able to have this procedure--I fought hard for it and went through several denials by my insurance company and it took over a year to get it done.

Welcome to the group and kudos on your success! Definitely reach for the stars!
