HI, I have been Paleo for 3 weeks today, I though by now I would see a difference , maybe some weight loss, or feel better, but nothing... I do exercise 5-6 days a week, I cut back my cardio, and incorporated strength training, I drink lots of water, and straight paleo food , no cheats....I have played around with my macros....not sure where they should be.....I don't even want to lose more weight, I just want to get rid of fat and build muscle, thought for sure my clothes would feel better by now , I haven't weighed myself, but I am scared because I think I may have gained? what am I doing wrong?? I really want this to work

I think I am going to illiminate nut butters and wine from my diet ( as hard as thats going to be ) ...they could be my downfall....maybe that will help?? lets hope.

on a good note though, my anxiety has pretty much disappeared!!!

Hi Jenna- I guess my advice for you is to just keep experimenting but give each change some time.

I peeked at your diary and see your high protein macro. So, I could suggest you lower that some and increase your fats? This has worked for me.

As far as the wine, well it could be standing in the way, but I don't think so. I do drink a fair amount of it myself and make sure to stat within my calories when I do. But again, experiment and see what happens.

It sounds like you are lean and just building and strengthening muscle? So this will take plenty of time, patience is everything.

Hang in there, paleo is a great lifestyle and does solve so many issues. Give your body time to catch up to the changes. Hope this could help and reassure you some. :-)

thank you for the great advice! I am going to try lowering my protein and uping the fats, ( I usually have my carbs right before I workout) as for the wine, I may just downgrade it some, haha....but the nut butters really need to go!! I really enjoy eating whole foods, .....my body fat percentage is 19%, want to get down to 15 or 16%, so its more leaning out, not nessesarily losing weight...thanks again!!

Nut butters really messed me up! It was the only sweet thing I was really eating. I would end up eating tablespoons and tablespoons of it! I had to stop eating it completely!

I recently lowered my protein slightly and upped my fat intake (added in more coconut oil) and the fat seems to be coming off a bit quicker.
I've also reduced my red wine intake to only have a few glasses over the weekend instead of during the week as well...I was overdoing it a bit before :drinker:
Don't stress about the scales...WAAAAYYY too unreliable. Take some measurements of yourself to more accurately monitor your progress. I've been hovering arourd the same weight for a few months until I made these changes and thought I wasn't losing any fat, but I'd actually lost cm all over due to muscle gain.
I rarely eat nut butters, I'd rather eat the nuts as they take longer to chew, I like the crunch and they seem to satisfy me more.
I don't eat carbs pre-workout (I eat a small amount of protein and fat beforehand to fuel my workout), but have protein and some carbs post-workout to replenish my glycogen stores. Eating carbs pre-workout just means your body is going to burn carbs/sugar instead of fat.

Remember, Paleo isn't a weight loss plan. People will just often lose weight because they have a healthier diet and reduced inflammation from eliminating grains :)

your only 19% body fat... there's not really much for you to lose!

personally, i would cut out the wine. or at least cut back.
