Losing on reset?

Hi all. I'm 5 weeks into my reset and for the past 8 days, I have weighed exactly the same. To the tenth of a pound. That's a total of about 3 pounds gained on my reset. And clearly I found my true TDEE for my activity level. Cool.

But this morning I woke up haing lost 2 pounds and .5 inch off my waist. Very awesome. Not complaining. But , if I continue to lose, should I consider upping my calories for the remainder of my reset (3-6 more weeks was the plan), or just thank my lucky stars and stay where I am? I just want to make the most of my reset. Or maybe it's just time to cut? I clearly hit a stall in weight gain.

I do come from a VERY long histry of VLCD, so I just don't want to mess us my reset.

Thoughts? What should I do?

Just keep at it and see if those 2 lbs are really something you lost, or just the morning mystery... if you do keep losing (week by week not day by day) then up by 50-100 calories.
  • I agree 100% with Greenrun. Keep where you are at and see what happens. Our bodies are funny that way. Sometimes I lose and gain for mysterious reasons and at odd times too. Sometimes I do everything right and lose nothing. Sometimes I do everything "right" and gain...*shrug* Just stick with it. Proud of you for making it so long! I know its not always easy!

Thanks guys! I will stick with the same plan for now. I've also noticed an increase in hunger, which I think is a good thing.

It's kind of crazy- when I look at the stats from my FitBit, it looks like I should be gaining weight. I have consistently been eating (slightly) more than I've been burning- at least per my FitBit. Which is making me wonder if maybe it's under- estimating my burn. I think I'm finding that looking at my NET results is the way to go. i.e., instead of making the goal 1900, making it 1500 NET. That would mean my intake wouldn't be as consistent on a day to day basis b/c some days I burn more than others, but the amount of energy available to my body would be consistent.

Anyone do this on reset? Or am I better off with a set consistent number every day regardless of activity?

Or maybe I should just quit thinking about it and let it be. Ugh. I can work myself in knots over numbers....

I think for right now, just relax and keep doing what you are doing. If you continue to lose over the next 4 wks consistently, then I would say bump calories by 100 and hold there for the next 4 weeks to truly see what your body is doing.
