"Dream" Dress - Stage 1

So, I am starting my liquid diet this week in preparation for surgery on December 11th. I know it seems like awful timing, but we did Thanksgiving over the weekend so it would not be an issue this week. Anyway, while I was out shopping this weekend, I came across a beautiful dress that is a size I haven't seen since my early 20's. It's a 16 and I'm currently a 24. It was on sale for $20 and I picked it up anyway. I know that I have no idea what my body will look like after surgery, or how long it will take me to get there, or if I will ever be that size again, but it seemed to me a good way to keep myself motivated. Did anyone else do this as motivation? Were you successful in getting into that "dream" item?

Oh, and this is out there, but I'm kind of hoping that I can fit into it by the time I go on a cruise in February. I don't think I will quite be there yet, but since I have been shopping in big women's clothing sizes for so long, I have no idea what weight I would be at to fit a size 16. I know that every "body" is different and that I might not lose as quickly as others, but if I keep up my exercise it's possible right? Especially since I've lost weight already as a requirement for surgery and so I'm almost in my size 22 clothing, I'm just starting on the liquid diet where I should lose more, and then I have 10 weeks to lose from the time of surgery to the cruise. Am I crazy to think this is possible?

I started out in 22s and 24s and blew past 16s only a couple months post surgery. (22 in May and 16 by August) I think you will look awesome in your new dress and you should take pictures; don't forget if the dress is still snug, or you feel lumpy, a girdle could be a handy accessory. Best of luck!

Oh, pictures with the dress are a great idea! I remembered to do starting measurements and pics before I began the weight loss, so I have my actual starting size and not just the pre-surgery size, but I think I'll do the picture progress with the dress as well. I can start by putting it "on" my body on the hanger over my neck so I can see how far I have to go, and take a pic each week to see how much closer until I get there and then finally one with me in it! That would be very exciting! I have hope!

Hi! That is a great idea that I will have to copy. My surgery is the day before yours - December 10th! My doctor put me on the cabbage soup diet beginning 12/3 - one week prior. I have a closet full of clothes ranging from size 24 down to where I began in size 16. I can't wait to shop my own closet in a few months!!! :-)

I had my surgery 2.5 months ago. I am down a total of 81lbs - 70lbs of that is just since I started the liquid diet two weeks prior to surgery.

I was wearing a size 28 jeans when I had surgery. As of two weeks ago, I am wearing size 20 jeans. I went from size 5x tshirts to 3x. I've lost 38+ inches overall. My bra has gone from a 48 to a 42.

You will find yourself in that size 16 dress in no time flat! Good luck! :-)

I am in size 16 now and it is starting to feel a bit loose in some of the pants. I am 201. I too had a closet with 24 to 14. I love shopping my closet. I think you idea of taking a picture with that dress is awesome. Just one word - don't be upset if you have lost so much weight by your cruise you can't wear the dress anymore... That could happen!! and that will be such an accomplishment. have fun!!!
