Is this normal?

Last month to this month, not sure if my curve got this much worse or just my posture. According to the doctor's office, I've shurnk 0.75" and I've been having major back pain. Does anyone else see this much change in short amounts of time?? I've never done monthly pictures before

I find my back is in a different place almost daily. Some days I feel pretty stable and others I feel like I'm falling over all day. Sometimes my pain is manageable, just in the background, and other days, pain is all I can think about. So, at least for me, fluctuations are normal, if that's what you mean. Do you get yearly x-rays for comparison?
I've shrunk an inch and a half and I was only 5'0" to begin with now I'm 4'10". Grrr...0 -
My doc only wants to do x-rays every 5 years, and I had them done last year. Thanks for sharing, I do most definitely have bad days and good days with my back, too, I guess I just didn't realize that my bad days could be so visual.
Hopefully the shrinking stops for both of us! I already "should" be about 5'8' according to my wingspan and degree of curvature, so this whole shrinking thing really sucks!0 -
yeah, my Dr. wants yearly x-rays but I'm not doing it. It's hereditary, we know it's only going to get worse, I don't really want to get x-rays that often for something I already know, ya know?0

Mavd .It looks like you might have a small lateral shift going on there i.e your shoulders are shifting to the left. This can be caused by some facet joint or disc irritation.[Looking at your stance you may have a tender spot about one thumb width out from your bony central spine just about at your waist level on the right.]
When this happens you will side bend and forward flex subconsciously to get away from the pain. This will look like inches lost but in reality is just your body twisting away from the sore site.Pressing in on the tender point will confirm or not !! my suspicions. If so you should get it checked by a Physical therapist who specialises in manual therapy as they will sort this out very quickly.0 -

Thank you for your response! You sound very knowledgeable, are you a PT or a doctor? My husband did find a decent sized spasm over there last night when giving me a back rub! I will have to look into manual therapy, I've seen PT's in the past but generally their responses are stretch (which of course, I do), heat and ice (which of course, I do), and wear good shoes (which I mostly do lol).0 -
