Dashing through the mashed potatoes to the candied yaaaammms ate so much I'm feelin' mellow-- but there's always room for jello!

Ok that is a portion of a song I loved in grade school.

The Holidays are a time to spend with family and friends and often times it centers around food. I am a firm believer in enjoying your day whatever your strategy or not having a strategy at all. Whatever works for you. The issue with holidays is the aftermath. The after shock in the form of left overs! The leftovers that turn an innocent 1 day into a week of splurging on mashed potatoes and stuffing!

For 20 points how do you plan to manage all the leftover food in your face for the days following the holiday?

For Thanksgiving it won't be a problem, since I am going to a restaurant for Thanksgiving lunch.

For my holiday party, I plan to send people home with treats. I haven't thought about what I'll do if they don't take a box of food with them. I won't be a 'food usher' lol, so no pressure to take away food. I guess if I have leftovers, I will just eat them, but in small sizes, and as meals, not to snack on all day.

Leftovers are a struggle---we are preparing a LOT of food. Luckily, my children welcome the food and take it home. It helps their tight budget AND my tight pants---LOL. My husband looks forward to the leftovers, but if I can give away the potatoes and scalloped corn (my fav's) and make sure the pecan pie does not stay---I will be doing all right!

Giving away leftovers seems to be the most popular idea. I often find that challenging because my husband would pitch a royal fit if I gave them all away.... Then I am still stuck with all this food in my face. I plan to have a serious talk with him to at least not take every fatty creamy cheesy side home with us!

Since my sisters have bigger families that I do (it's just me and my daughter), I allow them to take most of the leftover food home with them. My daughter and I will take something that can be eaten for lunch or dinner the next day but nothing more.

It turns out that by the time everyone took one plate there was only an excess of stuffing (which I can freeze) and scraps of turkey left! Yipppeeee!! Looks like I will be able to start fresh on Monday without this holiday haunting me. I have definitely been struggling so I am determined to get back on track to at least have a decent loss for my birthday. I will pick a goal and let you know. Hope you all had a blast with your friends and families!!
