Today is December 1st. A good day to start something new!

I found a website where I can (virtually) walk across the country. http://exercise.lbl.gov/user/userHome.html I react best to visual results, so for me this sounds pretty intriguing.

If this sounds interesting, but you are concerned that it might be too ambitious - I am aiming at 10 miles a week. I know - somewhere about the speed of slugs - but for me that is pretty realistic. I only monitor my normal day-to-day activities. I do not think I will ever do a regular exercise regimen, but I can increase my over all activity levels. "Normal" for me is between 1,000 - 6,000 steps, with an average of about 3-4K

If you want to join me feel free - my userid is 72113 You can partner with me, or if we get enough, we can make a team. If you want to join me, just post your user id or send it to me privately.

No fancy phone needed....just a pedometer type thing (fitbit, etc) to see how far you walk. I'm sure that some creative person could also figure out how to make it work without one of those even...but for me that is the simple answer.

Every day go to the site and put in the distance walked. - it moves you further along the trail. If you can't log in one day, that's ok you can always go in at enter the data later. Personally I plan on doing it every morning for the day before, but just because that is where it fits most easily into my routines.

I am expecting it to be kinda dumb - at least to start. But once there is some distance accumulated, I think it will be a great incentive. Kinda like weight loss - the first couple of pounds...it's nice, but not life altering. The last couple of pounds are monumental. Not just for the 2 pounds, but for the journey it represents putting all those 2 pounds together in one place. Saying you walked X miles is nice...but saying you walked from the east coast the the west coast - That puts it in a different light.

I found you - and added you as a partner. You should now see me as a partner on your end.
