what do you eat after 2 years

I had my surgery 2 years ago and I find it hard to eat certain foods like meat, pasta, potatoes, etc.
I find I am just eating crackers, soup, cheese, protein bars, etc. I am not eating meals. Mainly because I really don't know what to eat.
I was wondering if anyone can advise me how to get back on track. I am oding on crackers.
thanks

Are you eating fresh fruit and vegetables? Dried beans? Eggs?
  • It depends on certain days. Some days I can eat bread if it is toast. Somedays I can eat hamburger meat. I mostly enjoy fish and chicken. You have to experiement because everyone's body is different. Then keep a log of what didn't upset your stomach and go from there. Then try it a few weeks later and if still hurts your tummy, then just delete it from your list. I had to do that with steak and stew meat. Definitely try to eat more fruit, veggies and beans or eggs to get your protein in. I still have probs trying to get all my protein grams in a day. Good luck to you and know that everyone has gone through what you are going through. A lot of it is just fear of something getting stuck or making you feel yucky, but you won't know unless you try. I hope this helps you.

Someone suggested that I eat beef hash as it is high in protein and is fairly easy to digest since it's ground up finely. I found a Hormel Martha Kitchen brand that make a low cal version and added an egg today. I will say that I am pre-op, but I have been looking for things to eat in different post-op stages.

I had my surgery 3 years ago. I really do not have trouble with most food but steak and any beef, I find make me uncomfortable. I like chicken but find when I cook it it is a little dry, even though it is juicy. The solution for this I found out is to brine the poultry before cooking. The brine does something to the fibers in the meat and it sits well with my pouch and is softer and really moist. I use 1 quart of water with 1/2 cup of salt in it. If you are doing chicken breasts only brine it for an hour, a whole chicken brine it 2 hours. Then take it out of the brine and rinse it with cold water, pat dry and bake with some herbs on it. The skin will get nice and brown and crispy. I don't eat the skin but if your family is eating it they like the look of it. You can take the skin off if you want and it is still wonderful. I put some paprika on skinless chicken to make it look browned. I love the Sams Club rotisserie chicken, which is cheaper that buying a whole chicken and brining it and then cooking it. They are $4.88 or $5.88 and are made a few times daily. I get a lot of meals from one chicken. You can freeze the meat if you want and use when needed. I also like Laab which is a Thai beef salad that you can eat on a lettuce leaf. I like it just as is. It has an oriental flavor and is high in protein. If you want the recipe, I will give it to you, just message me.

Jimmy Dean Delights are also great , I get them at Sams Club also. 12 to a box and you keep them frozen. 2 minutes in the microwave and you have a great breakfast or whenever meal ,only 267 calories and high protein count. I can't eat a whole one, so I cut it in half and have the other half later as a snack to get my protein in daily. Tyson tequila lime chicken wings are another great item that I tolerate well. They are large wings, nicely seasoned , quick and easy to prepare in the microwave. I go for mostly protein, as a side I eat cottage cheese. I like it with some minced fresh onion and salt and pepper in it and if you like desserts take 16 oz cottage cheese, small curd and add a box of sugar free jello POWDER to it and mix well, stir in a small can of crushed pineapple and last a small Cool Whip Free and put in refrigerator for a few hours and it sort of puffs up. Not only are you having something sweet, its high in protein and you'll like it. I have used all flavors but like lime the best. Let me know how this goes for you.
