When to take meds

I've been doing a lot of research into managing hypothyroidism since I was diagnosed. It seems as though it's common for everyone to take their levothyroxin in the morning. But it sounds like it might be better absorbed if you take it at night. Does anyone here take theirs at night? have you noticed anything different?

I take mine at night for the simple reason that you are not allowed to take heartburn meds with in 6 hours of it
Also dairy products are a nono with in 2 or three hours of the pills NOTHING interfears with morning coffee so I take it at night.
    about an hour before bedtime

i take min 1st thing when i wake up and then eat 1 hr after that, any other meds i take at night. I do it this way so i DON'T forget to take it.... i have not heard if it is better to take it at night or not, just as long as you don't eat at least 1 hr after taking it so it can absorb..

I tried the night gig early in my "career," but that didn't work since I have an odd work schedule and don't eat at the same time every day and take an iron or a calcium supp at odd hours. So I ended up taking mine in the middle of the night! Usually between 2 and 4 am when I make a bathroom run. It didn't make a difference, but I think consistency is the key no matter.

I take mine in the morning and then wait an hour to eat. I tried taking the meds at night and found it difficult to go to sleep which is very unusual for me.

While I hate waiting the hour to eat in the morning, I know that I'd be terrible taking it at night - I like to snack late and you shouldn't eat for 2-3 hours before; plus I'd probably just fall asleep and forget (as I did often with my ATDs before I had my thyroidectomy).

If I knew I could be better about taking it at night I would definitely try that, as the evidence is mounting to suggest it's better absorbed. However, if you are being properly tested and dosed based on your free T3 and free T4 levels, then as long as you are consistent it really doesn't matter.

Some people do find that it keeps them up at night, especially if they are taking either synthetic T3 like cytomel or a natural supplement that contains both T3 and T4. The T3 in particular tends to keep people up, but some people also find it with T4.

When I first started to take them, my doctor said it would be best if I'd take them at 3 am. While being unemployed that worked well but since I'm working again, I'll take them right when I get up.
