Hi everyone
I found this group a few days ago and everything it stands for just seemed to click for me. However I notice that most of you have successfully managed to lose weight/fat in the past and have a hit a plateau. Eating more has helped you over come this with some fantastic results. I however, despite trying to drop a few dress sizes since I was 16 (I am 25 now), have never managed to lose anything. This has always boggled me as I have always been fairly active and a healthy eater.
For the past 3 days I have made a conscious effort to eat 2194 calories (and have loved the peace of mind it has given me) but I feel that, because I have never succeeded in losing fat before, I actually should be restricting.
Could anyone give me advice on whether I should eat my TDEE for a few weeks or whether I should go straight to a cut? I have never calorie counted for an extended period of time (I know the calories of most foods) but the times I have logged my food intake, I have always hovered between 1200-1500 calories.
Thanks!

I'm new too, and today is my first day actively trying to upp my calories to the 15% cut.
From what I understand in terms of eating at TDEE for a reset, vs going straight into a cut, is that it really depends on how long you have been eating an extreme calorie deficit.
For me, I have been eating at about 1500 calories for about a month, so a member here said that I should be OK to just go to a cut.
You should take a read through the pinned topics - especially about getting started and understanding how your body will react. For me, it took a couple of reads of it all before it really started to make complete sense.0 -

If you've been trying to lose weight for the last 9 years and have been eating 1200 to 1500 cals for much of this time I think you would probably benefit from doing a metabolic reset. Get your body used to eating enough nutritous food and to learn to use food as fuel. Then once your body knows food is no longer scarce it should start letting go of the fat.0
