Hypothyroidism and Soy milk

Hi everyone.
I'm hypothyroid and a vegetarian. I drink soy milk, but not in large amounts. I may use it in cooking or have it in a bowl of cereal a couple of times a week. I've read that soy is really bad for the thyroid. Should I really be replacing the soy milk with something else? I really always feel like my levels are all wrong. Could this bee a contributing factor?

I was told it's not bad for the thyroid, but bad for the absorption of the medicine (I'm on levo). So since my doctor didn't know much about the possible effects, she told me to stay away from soy products. A tiny bit of soy sauce was ok, but soy milk is too much soy for her to tell me I would be ok.
Have you tried almond milk or oats milk?
Get your levels rechecked if it's been some time since the last time0 -
Soy can have an impact on thyroid function - google info on "goitrogens" and that should give you some good info. Mary Shomon also has some good discussion here:

I go with almond milk instead, just in case.0 -

I agree! I was a vegetarian for 16 years and ate a lot of soy. I increased my intake of it while trying to get fit (protein). When I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, I cut it out of my diet completely. Another non dairy milk you can try is coconut milk. I get the So Delicious original and I love it!0
