The other day, I had one hell of a bad day with binging. I swear I ate the house out of food. Okay, maybe not the whole house, but you get my point. The very next day, we do this over the top potluck. All the food was spread out on tables right behind my desk. We even had a whole cooked suckling pig there. I'm saying, it's hard to not want to overindulge, when there is so much good food all spread out. It took me a whole week to balance out my weight.
I'm glad I recognized the situation when I did. It takes weeks to fix what you can screw up in days. What is a person to do when there is all this great free food right behind your desk? Every time we have a potluck, I seem to consume 3000 calories.

How often do you have a potluck?
Can you ask them not to place it right behind your desk?(Probably not, worth an ask though)
It would be very hard... Holidays are here and everyone is having get together s like those. 3,000 calories one time isn't going to kill you, maybe next time you have a potluck you can aim to eat half or one-third of the usual. Split your plate, use a smaller plate...whatever helps you. Because seriously, half a portion tastes just as good as a whole size portion. Make sure you're eating slowly. Aim to talk between eating, and drink, set your fork down a lot.
Eat salad and veggies first while eating the main course, and make sure to drink a couple glasses of water before eating the meal.
I know it's harder to say that to a person struggling with binge eating, but just give it a try.
Once the meal is over, put some of the food up? If possible. If not...just walk away from it. Get busy with something else. Try not to think about food again - because you're not hungry... just tell yourself it's fuel and you already filled up the tank.
Good luck!0 -
OMG can I relate to that. I hate it when we have potlucks at work, I always eat way too much...it's more like all afternoon eating than a binge but it's horrible. I easily eat 3000-4000 calories on a potluck day, maybe even more. It's hard when they leave the food out and every time you go down the hall there it is...and I have a sugar addiction and can't stop eating the sweets...the calories in those foods add up FAST.
And you are so right - I can screw up a week's worth of hard work in one or two bad days. And it can take a couple weeks to offset the one or two bad days. I wish I had some good advice but I don't....I just wanted to say that I totally understand.0 -

We have them every couple of months. They can only fit it at the far wall. I just now happen to sit on the end row next to the wall. I haven't had a binge since this potluck, and I still lost 2 pounds 8 days later. I know it's all about portion control.0
