Finished my last workout this past monday, and with warmup and cool down walk, i did 3.75 miles in 40 minutes. Then woke up Tuesday with a terrible pain in my foot. I'm 98% sure its a stress fracture and I'm taking all precautions possible. I've got a walking cast "boot" that I'm wearing while not at work, and at work its wrapped and in a really tight, stiff steel toe boot. I'm hoping to swim and bike to keep my cardio up, but I'm not really happy that I doubt I'll be able to run the 5k I signed up for on 1-1-13. What sort of things help to heal it quicker, how soon do you think I could run again, and how slowly do I have to build myself back up? I was thinking about starting C210K when I'm back on my feet (foot)

rest rest rest that is the only thing that will help and time
I fractured the octagon shaped bone that sits under the ball of the foot
it dislocated and I steped wrong and it broke. 4 weeks of rest
its hard when you have to miss something you have been looking forward to for so long
