Any good tips on how to track the exercise for C25K?
I am on week 3 day 1 and haven't been tracking until last week, but just guessing and sort of making it up as i go along.
I really would like to post it (and get some calories)
Thanks for your help!

Do you have a smartphone? The easiest way is to get one of the numerous C25K apps. The free one from active.com is very good. I paid for the one from RunDouble because I like the extra features it has. Spend a bit of time checking them out, and get the one that appeals to you most.

If on the treadmill, enter the calories under "walking" from the database and put in the calories your treadmill told you you burned.
If outside, plot your route here: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/ and turn on the calorie counter. Walking or running burn the same number of calories; just the time shortens when you run.0 -
Yes, smartphone apps are easiest.. but they don't track the calories. So, what I did was layer my apps. I first open & start my "running app" (I'm using endomondo curently), and then I open my c25k app and start it. I figured the few extra seconds it takes to get both apps open and running is just extra "warm-up time." Endomondo automatically syncs w/ mfp for exercise so that makes things easier too.
Before I switched to that app, I was using mapmywalk. When I was done with the workout, I'd look at my speed, and used that to log the workout in mfp. It wasn't until just recently that I could walk the entire workout as "running" because my total average speed was fast enough.
Before I got smart and used the gps app... I had maped out my neighborhood, and just made sure that my workout was a certain number of even laps (each lap was about 0.8 miles). Then it would be easier to calculate my speed to log in at mfp.
Edit to add... I'm using a HRM now.... but i'm not sure if I trust the calorie burn. Many people say that mfp over estimates the burn... but if it does, then my HRM really is over estimating it. Sigh. Not sure what to think there. So, I just use the mfp/endomondo calorie numbers to make things easier.0 -
I went by Runtastic's calorie calculations and changed from Walking to Running when the majority of my interval times were spent running. Seemed to track OK with my goals at the time. Recently I was given a Polar FT7 heart rate monitor and now I go by that, but worth noting that now on weeks 7, 8 and 9 my app calcs and my monitor are usually within about 10calories of each other. I would have liked to know what the difference was for the weeks when it was intervals more so than just running.0

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR REPLIES!!
I use the C25k app right now from Zen Labs - love it because i can play my pandora too. I went on the treadmill for the first time last night and used the calories they had for me. I was surprised i was burning that much - guess i had been giving myself less credit than i should have
I usually just add up the times i would walk - track that and then add up the times i run and track that - sort of works but...... Thank you all for your ideas! !0 -
Thats what I do too - just add up the intervals and then track the total minutes spent walking and running.0
