Lifting with Achilles Tendonitis?

This fall I really increased my time on the elliptical in addition to my lifting to help offset the amount of sitting in grad school. I gradually developed achilles tendonitis which has been very painful. I am having the HARDEST time staying motivated while working out. The tendonitis pain has been around for almost 2 months now & I have majorly cut down on my exercising in order to rest it (no elliptical, leg lifiting, or treadmill)... resulting in primarily UE, bike, and core (but bike is SO BORING for me, I hate it..)
Any suggestions for more workouts to do that won't irritate my achilles?! This limitation is really hindering my motivation to get to the gym!

I have the same problem plus MAJOR knee pain. I have been doing everything to help it. Stretching helps a lot! I also try to use insoles with high arches. I recently baught a anckle brace that helped a lot when I ran last night, I am going to use it at the gym tonight as well.0
