Are you at goal or maintaining

Hello all,

just wondering if anyone has reached their weight loss or body fat goals , and what do you do after you reach them. Do you start adding more calories or fat so you don't continue losing? And how do you know when you are done?

Funny you should ask this. Just yesterday my doctor told me I was to stop loosing weight!

So under doctor's orders I have raised my goal to my current weight and am switching to maintenance.

I think her reasoning was to do with me "not loosing" while I am unwell with ME/CFS - Conversely that was one of my reasons FOR loosing!

Anyway - I'm doing as she says. My BMI is 22 so right in the middle of the healthy range - so I guess she has a point.

Yesterday I upped my cals to maintenance....... and funnily enough don't feel hungry now that it's breakfast time! I guess I should up the cals slowly....

I think I am finally at my ideal weight...I tried for 8 months to lose more , and could not, since going paleo 8 weeks ago, i did lose a pound but my body fat % is going down, so I think thats what i really want to focus on, maintaining my weight but more muscle than fat. I go for my 8 weeek measurement on saturday, hoping to see another change in the fat percentage and fat pounds, in the forst 4 weeks of paleo I lost 2 pounds of fat, gained 1 pound of muscle, went from 19.1% body fat to 17.6%...my ultimate gioal is 15% body fat....maintaining around what I weight now , if I gain weight but my body fat is going down, that ok!!! I also changed my calories from the MFP basic 1200 to 1390 , eating more has also helped my weight goal I find. Non workout days i am usually around the 1300 -1400 range, when I do workout, I am around 1500-1800 cals...I just know my body is done with losing, its ready to lean out!!

I got down to 154#, which I find on the scrawny side, especially as I'm 5'4". So I toss in a can of coconut milk several times a week to bump up my calories.

EDIT: Should mention what that's done. I'm currently around 167#. I may stay here, but I think I'd like to try for 175#.

I lost 15 pounds in the first two Paleo months, then 2 more pounds in the next couple months. I'm 5'5" and 115 lbs. I can't lose any more. So I just live Paleo and be well =)

Lately because of the merry time of year, I have been doing some cheating, I'm ashamed to say, but so far haven't gained anything. I'd deserve it if I did, but I know what to do if it happens

I lost about 11 pounds since starting Paleo, but ten of those pounds was in the first two weeks. I'd like to lose five more, and I'll have to get much stricter in order to do that.

Way to go Jenna!! Since totally committing to Paleo I've also lost about 7lbs (sometimes it gets down to 8). I haven't had my BF measured professionally in a few years but it still says the same on my scale at home as it did when I had it last measured by callipers (13.5%) I don't want to lose any more weight or else my BMI will get a bit too low. I'm working on maintaing and adding more fats/calories into my diet.

I reached my goal over a year ago and actually kept going--to my dismay. I weigh less than I want to (5' 4" 100lb, want to be 108 or so) and make sure I now eat high carb vegetables and bigger servings to add back weight; maintaining at 100 past 8 months nevertheless, but also a small frame, so maybe this is my norm? For those of you struggling to lose, this might seem like a non-problem, but I can no longer donate blood because I'm underweight for their guidelines, and people remark how skinny I am in the same breath they comment on me eating a 1/3 rack of ribs, 1/4 chicken, sweet potatoes, and salad. Would they say the same thing if I were 50 lbs overweight? Hope not--it's rude either way.

Even when I'm really close to maintenance I struggle against wintertime weight gain every year so I have to keep at it at least seasonally. It's like my body tries to go into hibernation mode in winter plus I'm only 4'11.33" tall.
