To expand on that a little, whole grains and legumes have phytates. Phytates (and phytic acid) are antioxidant compounds found in whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds. The chief concern about phytates is that they can bind to certain dietary minerals including iron, zinc, manganese and, to a lesser extent calcium, and slow their absorption. I personally am a firm believer that these phytates are the reason my doctor cannot get my vitamin D up to the right levels (even with prescription strength Vitamin D).0

Aside from the fact that peanuts are legumes, they also are often mouldy or rancid and riddled with pesticides. Farmers rotate cotton (most highly irradiated crops in NA) with peanuts to maintain nitrogen in the soil. If you slip up and do eat peanuts please always choose Organic or just enjoy some almond, macadamia, cashew, pumpkin, walnut, pecan butter instead.0

If you haven't already, you will learn that peanuts pale in comparison to other nuts. I don't miss them! Almond butter is so amazing.... I can't believe I didn't try it sooner!0 -

I agree! I LOVE Almond butter. Macadamia nuts are sooooo much tastier than peanuts, in my opinion.0 -
