Hi - I would appreciate a fat% estimate please as a way of giving me a starting point. I've been messing around on MFP for long enough now and it's time to rise up and move on.

I think I am around 30-40% fat, so I won't be offended by anyone being blunt/fair/honest.
Extra info: Age 53, height 5'3", current waist 38", chest 38", current weight 165lbs.

Goals: a high strength to weight ratio. Muscle growth not so important as a high strength and to lower bodyfat to a minimum but healthy level. I guess I should be around 140-150 lbs LBM and that's with the amount of muscle mass I am hopefully training for.

edit: it has been really useful to have this photo record taken. I suddenly realised - no wonder I struggle with pull-ups - there's as much fat around the back as there is up-front!

As you get north of 20% it becomes more and more difficult to be accurate with visual estimations (at least for us), but having said that we don't think you're in the 40% range for bodyfat. Closest we could get would be in the ballpark of upper 20's to low 30's.

Excuse the seriously derpy faces, I was trying really hard to flex and feeling like a berk.

    Hi! Sorry for the delay.

We would put at about 23 - 24% based on the pics. However, to get a more accurate assessment, we would like to get more of a straight on side view (you are a little angled) and more of a straight on butt pic as the ones you have either cut off to high or are angled downward.

This is one advantage for SideSteel of working with a female running the group, as he leaves asking for butt pics to me....nice of him..

Had a hydrostatic test done 2 weeks ago that said 18.3%. I wish! I think I'm more like 22-25% judging from online pics. What would you put me at? I'm 5' 7.5" and 137 lbs.

We'd put you in the area of 25%.

If it's OK, I'd like to PM pics for another estimate, now that I've been lifting for a bit :)

I'll give it a go :) I'm getting ready to start Mark Lauren's program next week, so it will be neat to see where I'm at now vs a few months from now. And ignore the wall behind me-we're patching it in preparation for repainting lol.

You should probably take a look at the instructions on the first page and add the requested photos :)

Hi 44, 6'3", 214lbs. Just in case it makes a difference, I had a couple surgeries a couple years ago. So I have a 12" scar vertically from belly button down, and 3" scar horizontally next to it. My lower abs were sliced up during the surgery.

    TIA
