I started this thread to see if someone experience with em2wl can explain why eating the recommended ratio is very important?

I actually find it better for me to eat 35/30/35.
I find that if my carb intake is too high I crave, so I eat more protein.
I don't think there is a magic formula, you have to find what works for you.0 -

It came about because of 2 things.
Studies with extreme deficits where they did not lose LBM or lower their RMR had resistance training AND protein intake of 1g per lb of LBM.
Many that are overweight are pre-diabetic or have shown elevated response to intake of carbs, causing low blood sugar making you hungry quickly, and that the elevated insulin has you in fat storage mode for anything you ate that is not used right then and there. Excess protein takes more energy to convert to fat, so less effect.
The 40/30/30 Carb/Prot/Fat ratio usually means the protein will hit the above recommendation.
It's been a recommended ratio for years starting with Phil Maffetone during the fat free fad, and later by Barry Sears with the Zone diet, as just a way to even out the body's hormones.
But you can also figure out mathematically where the % should be to meet the protein recommendation. Just easier this way since MFP is already using %.0
