Warm-up Sets

I started SL 5X5 today and was wondering when I should start to include warm-up sets. I'm doing the program as it's written - swallowed my male ego and did squats with an empty barbell.

My question is should I do the warm-up sets with the empty barbell on my next workout day before doing 50 lb squats?

    Yes. I always start with the empty barbell. Always. I usually do 2-3 warmup sets of different weights before I even get to my target weight for the day. But in every case, my first warmup set is with an empty bar.

    Mehdi himself recommends always warming up with an empty bar, even if it's just 1 set of 5 reps.
